2/3 left of decisions left eh?
No, I think only 1/3 left.
How in the world does anyone know how many were released and how many still have to go? (Update- saw answer, thx).
FYI, one of the best ways to follow what’s happening is @ucsbadmissions on Twitter. They often give you a heads up on time of announcements. (At least last year they did), as well as server issues, etc.
According to Mu.Sun, “the Office of Admissions released 5,670 decisions to transfer applicants”
Last year, UCSB admitted 7,000 students.

@sky1991 Well, that’s last year. Unless that 7000 is consistent every year, we don’t know for sure. Also, 5670 “decisions” were released, not “admitted”.
But sky is right, if the numbers are fairly stable, which they probably are, that 1/3 of applicants got a yay or a nay. 2/3 left (approx)
At this time, because California has not approved any increase to the UC budget for 2015-2016, the number of students admitted to each of the UCs will be the same number as last year, according to UC President Janet Napolitano. Wait listing may allow the number to increase after California’s budget is approved later this Spring.
But Sky said that there’s only 1/3 left…
Only one third of the decisions (not necessarily 1/3 of the admissions) were released last Monday. That’s all I know.
Oh I thought Ms. Sun was talking about the number of students who got admitted March 16.
sorry for making you guys confused…
@Mustang012 Ah, yes… UCSB’s CoE is notorious for being strict with prereq’s. In last year’s thread there were a bunch of engineers who were just missing one or two of them and were flat out rejected in spite of having stellar GPA’s. On the bright side, even if UCSB proves to be just as strict about it this year, your GPA makes you a very competitive candidate for UCLA and UC Berkeley if you applied to those, so there’s a very good chance that you’ll get into either one of them (or even both) since I know they require less courses compared to UCSB! Don’t give up
And yes, the gender ratio in UCSB’s ECE department really is that bad. You can see it on the first page here: http://bap.ucsb.edu/IR/PDB/files/profiles/Engineering/1314/1314_Electrical%20Comp%20Eng.pdf For undergraduates, the percentage of female students is just 10%. Chemical Engineering is a bit more reasonable at around 25% and Computer Science has 20%, but for the other undergraduate engineering majors at UCSB it hovers consistently around 10-15%. I’ve gotten used to being one of the few girls (or even the only girl) in my classes at this point, though, so I don’t mind aside from occasionally wishing I had more female peers
@ARandomPerson1 Yes, I also applied to UCB, UCLA and UCSD, all of which I met all the requirements for. UCSB is the only school I was missing prereqs for. We’ll find out tomorrow (I hope) if they’re as stricted as they say they are.
I hear that Berkeley takes the personal statement far more into consideration compared to the other UC’s. So if that’s true, then I believe I have a good chance at UCB because of my grades and my personal statement but who knows, anything can happen. I’m more anxious about hearing back from USC since it’s my top choice!
Where are you attending school at the moment? SBCC? If so, your chances increase because I heard transfers from SBCC take up to 1/3 of the transfer applicants.
@Mustang012 I’m sure you’ll get into at least one of the three schools you mentioned! And yes, I go to SBCC, though I’m not sure if that really increases my chances per se. SBCC’s high transfer rate to UCSB could simply be caused by the fact that more SBCC students apply to UCSB compared to any other California community college.
^Then again, Dynamics is only offered at SBCC (requirement for ME). Hence why I have to drive to Ventura then take the Amtrak to Santa Barbara and then a bus to school 8-|
@ARandomPerson1 I sure hope so. That’s true but either way you have a good chance of being admitted.
@ShuttlepilotND What CC do you go to? Other than SBCC?
@Mustang012 I go to Ventura College and I’m also taking an online MATLAB class at Monterey Peninsula College
@ShuttlepilotND I go to Ventura college too. I see you’re taking classes everywhere!
I knowwww, its all these pre-reqs and they aren’t offered near me, I live in Panorama City. UCSB is the only school that requires these classes. What are you taking at Ventura?
@ShuttlepilotND That’s quite a drive, especially to SBCC. Im only taking one course at Ventura and that’s Linear Algebra. I’m taking the majority of my classes at Moorpark College, which are physics 20B (E&M) with the lab and Physics 20C (optics, modern physics) with the lab.
What are you taking at Ventura?
Since you’re taking classes everywhere just for UCSB, I’m assuming that’s your top choice?
