@CancelOut Yeah, finally got in a couple of days ago around midnight. Ridiculous how long it took, but glad to be in. I think you’re still waiting yeah? So stressfull!
@decisionpending I highly doubt that they do it based on when you submitted the app, I submitted it at around 11:30 pm on the due date and I got in on the first batch for UCSB and UCSD…does anyone know if UCSB gives out regents for transfers?
A UC Davis TAG rep actually said on CC regarding TAG they will start looking right after TAU submitted, so it’s happening somewhere. If there are no problems I’m sure it goes faster and this was referring solely to davis TAG. But I would assume there is a logic to that statement.
Also, you can start to piece things together with other UC comments. UCSB has said one admissions person oversees a bunch of applicants and as they get completed submits them as completed. Since there is a sub-group that reads essays, etc (info supplied by UCB and others), a lot would also depend on how quickly everyone gets an applicant’s job done. Essays might be read randomly or not as quickly by one person, whereas another may go about the reading in a different way. UCSB does not read transfer essays, but there are a lot of individual components that can speed up or slow down the process.
@lindyk8 Do you know for a fact that they do not read essays, or did you just hear that from another source. From what I understand they read it if you are borderline.
Wait. I have to think. There are now supposedly five that look at it for transfers in the admissions process. It used to be four (UCLA, UCB, UCI and UCM),then just two (UCLA and UCB), and now a fifth got added. I think it’s UCSD. Let me recheck.
Yes, it’s UCSD. The others only look at the essays for scholarships or financial aid. UCSB does not read as part of admissions.
Here is last year’s matrix which shows the four, before the addition of UCSD:

@lindyk8 How do you know? And stupid question, but are you referring to the personal statements?
See above matrix. Yes, the personal statement.
Please like this comment if you are still pending… I just want to know how many others are waiting?!
