@LuckyName Hey, I was gonna go to Spring Insight but I have work. I’m also going to a tour with my school for 2-3 hours in SB. Might have to go again myself, since that sounds pretty short.
Double post sorry.
For those worried about being rejected based on IP pre-req’s, I’ve gotten in with 1 IP pre-req and know of others who’ve gotten in. From reading 2014 UCSB transfer thread and this thread, it seems a lot of people get rejected if they don’t complete the math/english requirement that UCs require.
Poli sci major here still waiting to hear from them!!!
This wait is killing me!!
I feel ya
@akfieldhockey from what I’ve read about on this thread is that SB is very strict about math having been completed fall before transfer, it’s okay, as long as I get accepted to one of the UC’s I will live.
I JUST GOT INTO UCSB for communications!!! AHHHHH. I’m so happy! Good luck to you all!
@summahsummah see you on campus!
Rejected
Computer Science major
GPA 3.85
I don’t know why I got rejected I have very high grades and very good extra curricular activities. But was kind of as I am from an international university in Egypt,Cairo. Good luck to everyone else !
was kind of expected*
@mihilmy were you missing some of the pre-reqs?
Sorry @mihilmy
@vidaless Yeah it seems like that’s definitely a thing I’m seeing here…
Also completing my math req this Spring. It’s a shame because UCSB is actually the school with the highest acceptance rate that I applied to. Scary.
FIlm / Media Studies
GPA: 3.45 upon applying
IGETC: I went to a private university for two years and cc for one, so technically no due to non-cc reqs but every req is fulfilled as of Spring 2015.
Major Reqs: Partial Completion
EC / Awards: Pretty damn good
Personal Statements: Probably only so-so…
Tag: No
Rejected: UCSB
Not Heard Yet: UCI, UCSD, UCLA, UCB
@vidaless @Poogboy This is just anecdotal but, I am IP stats and I got accepted to SB. So I wouldn’t say they are “very strict”. This is the first and only math class that I took at my CC, too.
@cstransferrrr nope all pre-req were completed, maybe I got rejected due to the fact that i am not incommunity college in california !
@Stevieindb out of curiosity, what were your stats? I was somewhat on the margin so I can see if that went into the reason why they rejected me.
@Poogboy Im kinda in the same boat Im transferring from a private university which I attended for 1 and a half year and I attended a community college for the second semester of my second year… so Im worried about classes from my private university transferring as well… My friend got in however so I have hope… but she was Psych major… less impacted than Poli-sci from what Ive been told
@mihilmy Did you apply to UCD for Comp Sci?
@DavisCowsRule yes ofcourse
Davis, UCSD, Berkeley
@DavisCowsRule do you think I have better chances at any of the other campuses ?
I was accepted to UCSB on Friday, April 10th, 2015.
Physics with intentions of applying to the College of Creative Studies:
GPA: 3.5ish
IGETC: All credits except for Java I, Java II, Linear Algebra, Discrete Math and Intro to Computer Science taken out of states. All pre-requisites completed in Florida.
Major Reqs: Partially completed (19 credit hours) taken at a 4 year university in Florida which I left due to financial hardship.
EC/Awards: Creator of multiple successful internet art groups, self-promoted and released electronic music producer, run an independent record label, 4 years combined experience tutoring Math, Physics and Chemistry at various community colleges, internship at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab doing Computational Chemistry and a year and a half of relevant work experience at two startups dealing with lithium ion batteries and concentrated photovoltaics.
Personal Statements: Everyone that read them had very little feedback other than some grammatical/punctuation issues. Content was supposedly solid.
TAG: No.

Still waiting to hear from San Diego. If San Diego rejects me, I’ll see y’all in Santa Barbara in Fall.
Is anyone else planning on applying to CCS? I think I’m gonna do it and try to soak up some extra classes in CS, Math, Art and Music if they’ll allow it.
