Official Fall 2015 UCSB Transfer Thread.

@mihilmy I’m thinking you’d have a good chance of getting into UCD.

Has anyone gotten accepted to UCSB with their 2nd declared major as opposed to the first?! What’s the likelihood of that happening?, can anyone shed some light here!! Lol  - hoping to get in at least with my second major.

Rejected

Biological Anthropology program
3.49 GPA
IGETC completed by Spring
Varied EC’s - volunteer work, mentoring, kids’ theater/preschool teaching, internships & work experience
Math - Completed this Spring (I’m sure this is why)

I applied with a strong upward grade trend in Fall, and did a lot of major grade repair after overcoming hardships. I completely understand this choice.

Accepted: SF State, UC Santa Cruz
Rejected: Cal Poly SLO, San Diego State, UCSB
Waiting: UCLA, UC Berkeley

UCSB just got back to me this morning asking for my math grade prior to stats!!! Does a B look bad??? #worried

@Ajlucas No, not at all. They just want to be sure that you passed math already with an acceptable grade, and a B is definitely not terrible.

@arandomperson1 that makes no sense. because you have to get an acceptable grade (by that I mean a C
or better) in math to get into stats. So if he’s in stats, then of course he did.

Yes can spmeone please tell me what are the chances of you being accepted as their alternative major rather than your first? Does that happen? Do they actually consider you?

@ajlucas wouldn’t they see the math grade in your application?

@lindyk8 - I took it during the winter semester and got my grade after the 1/30 update. I hope that’s not jeopardizing my admission. SB is my top choice

@rmalani From what I have heard, no.

Psychology
GPA: 3.75
IGETC: 1 more class. Enrolled in last writing class.
Major Reqs: Currently in 2 major classes.
EC / Awards: None.
Personal Statements: It was decent.
Tag: No
Accepted: CSULB, UCR, UCSB
Rejected: N/A
Not Heard Yet: UCI

Decision was released on March 16th for me

@rmalani “An applicant may be considered for
admission to an alternate major if a valid
alternate major is indicated on the
application. Such decisions are made on a
case-by-case basis”

from http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/transfer-admission-matrix.pdf
(this is last years matrix, couldn’t find this years)

@Ajlucas, if they asked for the grade, they’re factoring it in.,thumbs up.

@lindyk8 - I really hope so, I hope a B is enough to get me through.

@rmalani One of my friends applied to UCLA two years ago as a psychology major, but got accepted with his alternative major which was biopsychology. So, I know it happens, but I’m not sure how often.

So nervous…

at this point i feel like I may hear back from Cal on the 24th before I hear back from SB

I can’t figure out whether it’s good or bad I haven’t heard from UCSB yet. At this point I’ve pretty much given up hope.

Timing of notifications means nothing.

Has anyone else gotten a really small Finaid estimation? I’m only getting 5k for pell with the rest of the cost in loans as my fafsa was done late
I will try to appeal to get more in grants. If that doesn’t work I will not be able to attend
