Official Harvard SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Y’all should start a new results thread the day of. This is a sad place.

In tons of speculation I think it is most believed that the big moment is still the official Dec.15 5 p.m. EST

Hey guys,

I know I’m a bit late joining in on this, but I’ve applied REA as well. Um a quick intro about myself: I’m from India and am currently in my junior year, so if I get into Harvard I’ll drop out of high school and join you guys for the Class of 2016 :).

But now, I’m VERY nervous about the 15th :S…

Sweet Jesus, if H’s financial aid dept finishes early, we could expect a 13th-15th delivery. If things stay on schedule (as we believe is the case), we’re looking at a 15th announcement. There’s really no incentive (outside of good will) for H to pre-emptively release admission decisions.

I don’t know which one I prefer tbh.

Yeah, I kinda enjoy this time of doubt. At least there’s still hope, y’know? :)

I agree with you collegeinfo. At least we can secretly dream.

Hey ashwin. From where in India are you from? Have you gotten an interview?

@mrskannerz Yeah, I was wondering the same thing…also as columbia etc. already have their decisions…Not sure what is better tbh

@nocensure

I’m from Kerala (way down south, next to the Indian ocean). And no, apparently interviews aren’t offered in India :(. Hope that doesn’t hurt my app :S.

Ashwin, I am also from Kerala, but reside in the US as a senior. Good luck

@light shining

I honestly was not expecting this many Japanese EA applicants since I’ve heard not so many Japanese apply to Harvard in the first place, let alone EA.
I feel like all of us (you, me, kentawata, and sail 3115) currently live in the US though.
did you apply as an international applicant or domestic?

Oh guys I have a question…I sent an email to the fileroom at Harvard to add supplementary information on December 9th. The subsequent email said that my information was printed out and added to my file. But if admissions were really already made, is this a bad thing? As in, does it mean I’ve been deffered?

@Kidcurry

You should have sent it in earlier because decisions are probably already made as of the 8th or 9th! You should call and ask ASAP about it.

Are there any African Americans on this thread that applied? Just curious.

Kid curry, that’s an automatic email. Who knows whether it was too late or not

Sent from my LG-P509 using CC App

@gymqueenwork
It wasn’t my supplemental essay or anything. It was just additional information that I wanted them to see. I also sent it in early, on Nov 24th, but I received no response from admissions so I emailed it again

@gymqueenwork

yes me… and probably quite a few others.

how many people to do think they will accept since 4245 applied? like 600ish?

breakdown:
9.1% African American
9.1% Hispanic
1.1% Native American

Do you think they are striving to accept more URMs to increase the URM percentages in the previous years?

@gymqueenwork - People have been predicting 800ish acceptances… but honestly I don’t think anyone has a very good idea.

I just want to know either way D: the wait is killing me. (Though at least while we’re in limbo we can keep hoping, haha.)

@sail3115 Hi, I want to ask you few things; do you live in USA or Japan? and what’s your concentration?
