Wait, are they really deciding up until the actual release date? x.x

@hello kitt just out of curiosity… is this your second or first interview?

@hellokitt my application sucks too much to not be given an interview, must have been autoreject :P

Why is there talk about people getting emails from the Financial Aid Office? Do all accepted students normally get those emails? Ugh, being on this site is making me more stressed out than I’m supposed to be…

Does clicking the box that you were applying for need-based FA in the future plans section of the Common App mean that you applied for Harvard need-based aid?
I’m only going to apply for federal aid, so I clicked it anyways thinking that was what it was asking and now I’m freaking out hahaha

I don’t think there’s much of a difference between a second interview immediately after the committee finished meeting (last week) and a first interview right before decisions are released (this week). Of course, in both instances, it means that your application has caught the committee’s eye and is being further evaluated…so if you ace the interview, perhaps you will be accepted?

@calgirl- there is only that, talk. There is nothing concrete and correct me of I’m wrong, but no one on this thread has actually gotten an email from the financial aid office after the 7th. It would be too much of a give away.

I agree - so I guess that means it’s merely speculation. I have a friend who was accepted last year to the Harvard Class of 2015, and he applied for financial aid. He didn’t hear anything from them until the official decision release date, so I was a bit skeptical when I first read the claims about the financial aid office sending out emails.

3 days, 17 hours, 38 minutes, 45.782 seconds left.

How do you all just assume that the e-mails will be sent on the 15th? The applicant page on the Harvard website says SCEA applicants can only use it till the 13th, ie, it could come out any day from the 13th :S…

@ashwinsr There’s a place on the website that specifically says emails will be sent out after 5PM on the 15th. The applicant page might just be taken down so that they can update their servers.

Oops my bad, I just noticed that :S

AHH IM NERVOUS… and i agree with whoever said this thread was stressing them out. :/

same… even though this thread stresses me out i still stalk it every hour

but really. why are people still getting interviews it makes me feel like i’m already rejected.
and then there’s other people who are like “i’m 4.0 2400” and urgghh

I agree with m00nlight… This is way too stressing, especially the recent interviews. If I only had one interview, is it an automatic rejection?

@isarey1 Definitely not! One interview is the norm not very many people get two interviews. I only had one and it was the day before decisions were made (last Tuesday). Don’t stress over that, haha.

I’m super nervous, too. I have panic attacks roughly once every hour (and it definitely doesn’t help that I stalk this thread religiously…)

BUT GUYS YOU WILL ALL SUCCEED NO MATTER WHAT SO DON’T WORRY TOO MUCH OKAY

Doesn’t anyone understand that this is not really an early admissions window. This period is just a time to officially welcome the athletes that have already signed national letters, and knew they were “in” since Soph/Junior year. Very, very few others get in- in fact the numbers are actually worse for “unhooked” applicants during this period. Run the Math- not kidding. And then check on the athletes scores/grades- you will be shocked! At my school it is a sad comment on athletic recruiting.

And I was just starting to get confident

I agree, just when I was starting to relatively relax and think positively, codeofconduct posts that…

@codeof conduct- I smell ■■■■■. You create an account and as a first post, write something that is not only severely demotivating but also completely untrue. First of all you comment about athletes. You say this SCEA period is farcical in nature for applicants that are not athletes. Really? So basically all the ~750 applicants that get admitted are athletes. Wow. I wonder how Harvard gets its reputation for academic excellence then as recruited athletes tend to have lower stats on average than other candidates (not judging but simply stating a correlation).

Everyone else: do not let this poster get to you. YOU submitted an application with the hope you’ll get in. No matter how small this hope is, please DON’T destroy it. It’s the only thing that gets us going at this period of time. It give us the optimism to continue living life the way it was meant to be. The SCEA period is simply the regular decision round with the additional benefit of increasing yield. There is room for athletes, URM’s, non-URM’s, and all other normal applicants. All they ask is for a story that truly appeals to them. If you think you have that then please don’t give up. It’s just not worth it.
