@rizchicago716 I got the same thing. I was hoping it was a good thing, but I don’t think so. We can always hope though!

@Grkathlete
I’m sure not to worry because they said in the Application Status portal that they would call/e-mail if you were missing any important documents to complete your application!

@rizchicago:
I think that’s a REALLY good sign. Lol why would they invite you and then deny you admission! mmhmmm, I hope I get a similar e-mail!!

“This unique event brings alumni and students together on one night, in cities around the world. It is a special opportunity to engage with fellow alumni and current students from across the University. Build new connections, reconnect with classmates, and share your experiences with students. Tap into the power of the network!”

Hmm, I have not gotten that email. I’m doomed.

@rizchicago: I think it’s just a “consider us!” email. I’ve been getting similar emails for a long time from many schools I’m applying to. But what do I know? It may be a good sign.

@perry but are you from Chicago like @rizchicago?

Has anyone from any other Harvard club other than Chicago received an email like that? …

I’m close to the Harvard Club of the Research Triangle. I just investigated, and it seems like some clubs just do it for alumni. They openly had it listed as a featured event, and it said the purpose was to suggest goals for the Harvard Club. Maybe in NC it’s not a speculation opportunity.

My interviewer and I got along pretty well, I’m still in email contact with him, and he said he’d let me know as soon as he knew something about my decision. I don’t think interviewers or the local Harvard clubs know/find out before applications. I don’t think it really means anything except that maybe the local club liked your application.

I got invited to the Harvard University Club of Houston informational meeting wayyy back on October 27, 2011. I think it is more of a “please come learn about Harvard” type deal. But who knows…

But this is a Christmas party right? Not an informational meeting? I feel my dreams and hopes crashing at a quick rate…

Note: the email does not say “club,” it says Chicago Area Harvard College Schools Committee. I have applied to Harvard SCEA, and I cannot see how the said committee could have NOT reviewed my application and found out about the results.

I repeat, I am doomed!

@perry, you and me both!

The interview committees/Harvard clubs get admissions info on the 16th so unfortunately (fortunately?) the invitation has nothing to do with application status.

@1987crimson, how do you know? And if you’re right, you’re the reason I’ll be able to sleep tonight!

YAHOO!!! My fate has been saved (for now)!!!

Hey guys! I’m new to College Confidential but am looking for some people who are as stressed out as me in these last final days…anyone else so nervous they can’t sleep?

@1987 Crimson: right, thanks for keeping me in reality. But why would the Chicago Area Harvard College Schools Committee send me this email if I have already applied? The email is addressed to Harvard Applicant-Undisclosed Recipient. And the RSVP date is by the 15th. I am just getting very excited about the whole thing.

the level of anxiety on this thread…
