Harvard isn’t really the “best education possible.”

I submitted on the 14th, was contacted on the 18th, and interviewed on the 21st. I live in the Inland Empire region of SoCal, if any of you are curious. I’d assume that the organization/responsiveness of alumni interview coordinators varies greatly by region.

Was it officially through Harvard? Or were you just emailed from a personal email address?

^The “Area Chairman for Harvard interviewing for the Inland Empire” contacted me via his personal e-mail address.

Can anyone please tell me what questions are on the Pre-interview sheet?

when my son interviewed they asked questions about him. Nothing mystical, just basics. He was accepted and is currently a senior at Harvard.

I applied around the second week of October EA and have not yet been contacted in any form for an interview. my friend applied to duke ED and was contacted for an interview within days. I live on long island, ny and figured there would be availability. should i be expecting an email from an alum soon?

^i would think there would be enough h alums in your area for an interview (well, I don’t know exactly where you live, but I know a bunch of grads that went to floral park/new hyde park schools), so you should get an email eventually…

Also, what do you guys think about making a Harvard SCEA pledge thread in the upcoming weeks? This is the first time in a long time that H has used an early round, and our results threads won’t be as comprehensive and helpful to future EA’ers (and even RD’ers) if our decisions thread is corrupted by voluntary response bias.

^Yeah I think previous CC’ers have done those kinds of things for previous years.

Quick Question(s) about Financial Aid:

Am I right in saying that the CSS Profile and the submitted copies of 2010 Federal Income Tax Returns are the only things due for FA by Nov. 1st (excluding Non-custodial stuff)? The Business/Farm Supplement applies to my family, but it doesn’t have an explicit deadline.

Can I simply fax the tax returns to the Financial Aid Office?

If you apply SCEA and do not fill out CSS profile by the Nov 1 deadline, and by some blessed chance get in EA, can you fill out the form by Feb 1 to be considered for FA?

What is the Harvard Interview Prep Sheet. ??

Hey guys! Just submitted my app today after having issues with my second teacher’s rec not loading… it’s worked out now! You guys were mentioning sending a copy of 2010 taxes… do international students have to do this? I reside in the US and my family still does taxes. I did the CSS profile already.

Edit: Just went and checked, and apparently I don’t… And residents/citizens also don’t unless “your family’s 2010 tax return included income or losses from a business, farm, trust, or rental real estate, or if your family has an interest in a corporation or partnership”

Now we play the waiting game. It’s particularly nerve-wracking because I’m not sure how they will view my race… I’m hispanic but not a resident/citizen so I doubt I’ll be getting a boost… hmm we’ll see.

“Of the following fields of study, which are you currently most likely to pursue?”

I put undecided in my Common App portion, so would I just leave this blank?.. I’m so conflicted

Hey guys, this may be a stupid question but I’ve already written my required additional essay for my Yale supplement and wondering if I should put it as the additional essay for Harvard? Is it like an unsaid requirement to provide an additional essay as well as the common app one for Harvard?

Pledging to post in the outcomes thread even though I mostly lurk and not post. It would be hella useful to future applicants.

^Ditto. I think I’ll just make a thread specifically for pledging on Tuesday :D

Besides the Common App application, the Harvard supplement, and the CSS/Financial Aid forms, is there anything else we need to fill out/complete?

Is the Harvard REA application due Nov. 1 or Oct. 31 11:59 ET?

^ I would very much like to know that too.

For anyone who already submitted their app:

I sent in my applicants with the fee and my SAT scores last Sunday. When I tracked my application online today, it said that they hadn’t received my official SAT scores or payment yet. Is everyone else getting that too?
