i dont know how to check if everythings been downloaded

@hellogoodbye13 they email you a code that you can use to track your app online (from the Harvard site). I still haven’t gotten mine yet since yesterday. How long does it usually take? Is Sandy delaying it?

@twoleftfeet

Same here. It’s been almost a week since I submitted everything (CommonApp/Supplement), but nothing is downloaded.

It just says:

Application Submitted: 10/27/2012
Supplements Complete: 10/27/2012
Payments Complete: 10/27/2012
School Forms Assigned: 10/26/2012

Is this normal or not?

Had my alumni interview yesterday! It was intense, yet very interesting

I got my access code from Harvard earlier today, they’ve received my common app and supplement (a few days late though… weird) as well as all my scores, but not my school stuff (recs etc.). On the common app website & naviance it says they were submitted last Friday…
Is this normal? What should I do?

oh okay yeah on common app it says that ive submitted it, but going off on what everyone as said here apparently it takes them a few days to send an email.

@looshin oh goodness I was clearly tired last night, at 12:30 or whatever, after hours of last-minute editing the Harvard app. It is 43, not 73 days. I can count… lol sorry :)

Did you guys opt not to get your decision by email? I did… IF the access code closes on Dec 13, then I hope I’m going to have my decision in the mail by then… This is so stressful

Wait, why wouldn’t you want your decision e-mailed to you? ^ Confused.

If you opt to get your decision emailed to you, you still get a mailed decision (I don’t know if that’s true if you are not accepted or deferred.)

@daishi yeah, number of applicants. Though, looking at last year’s thread, they didn’t have a press release until late November.

And yeah, you scared me with 73 days, haha…

Does anyone know when we should be getting contacted about interviews? I submitted the application on October 20th, and still nothing yet. Also, when do you think they’ll have downloaded recs and transcripts? Mine still haven’t been received.

Submitted!!! Phew!

Good luck to everyone!

Same question as @imthiskid: When do we get contacted about interviews? Also, I recently received an email from Harvard asking me for confirmation of my email. However, I still have not received an email from the Admissions Office. How long did it take for you guys to get this second email?

It took me about 15 days to get contacted for my interview (I’m in a place with lots of alumni), and about 12 days to get my access code.

And if you guys are applying early action, pledge to post your results in the pledge thread here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1411210-official-harvard-scea-2017-pledge-thread.html. As many results as we can get helps future years of CCers.

For those of you who’ve had your interviews, how long were they? Mine was about 50 minutes long and I’ve heard/read that some last over an hour and a half. I thought our conversation was good, though nothing out of the ordinary. Is 50 minutes unnaturally short?

Mine lasted a little over an hour because my interviewer (who was an attorney at microsoft) had to get home and pack (it was a wednesday and she had to leave the country the next day).
Interviews typically last an hour or so if they are held during the weekdays and usually last longer if they are held on weekends from what I’ve heard.
We had very intense conversations about the interpretation of the constitution and the current political landscape as well as just education and intelligence in general in the United States (somehow this came up after I mentioned that I am very interested in constitutional law). My interviewer was very true to her lawyer role and was a little rude at times when she wouldn’t let me finish my sentence, but I think I kept up with her rebuttals pretty well and came up with good arguments of my own, though we ended up agreeing to disagree at the end of the conversation lol. We talked about art as well (I was working on one of my pieces while waiting) and the conversation flowed like that. She took notes the entire time, and asked a lot of the textbook questions as well, though our conversation would pick up after that. Overall, my interview was a little longer than an hour, though it felt longer due to the intense conversations we were having. I think when she asked if I wanted to tell her anything else, I basically summed up who I am as a person and the life philosophy I follow, just so the interview would end on that note.

I opted for traditional mail so I could just look at the thickness of the envelope to determine whether I’m in or not. E-mail is too much of a rush, if you know what I mean.

I heard that the acceptance letters for harvard have “congratulations” written at the top and are thick 9"x11" envelopes while the rejection/deferred envelopes are just regular business envelopes. Is that true?
