I have not. Although if that’s true, then my whole plan is ruined!

I submitted on the 15th and my recs are still showing as Not received on the Application Portal. Is anyone else having the same problem? Does anyone who submitted after me have their recs showing as Received?

International applicant here, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. Seeing as I’ve applied under SCEA to Harvard, am I allowed to send my CA to other schools now under their RD programs?

EDIT: Checked the website - SCEA applicants may apply to other schools’ RD programs before they receive Harvard’s decision.

@Looshin, I believe on the Harvard Website it says that a candidate can apply to other schools under their regular decision program even if they have not received their SCEA Harvard decision yet, but I would check the website again just to be sure!

@straightchillin, I called admissions yesterday and they confirmed that it’s normal, they’re still processing everything, and are first going over conmon app and supp, and only after checking all the school forms, and last the supplemental materials. They haven’t finished the first step yet, so no need to worry :)

Sent from my SCH-I400 using CC

If we sent in a supplementary recommendation, do you know if that will also appear somewhere on the status page? Or would we have to call in to find out if it has been received?

@Shelly Did you mail in the supplementary recommendation or did you upload it on commonapp under the additional information section? Mine was on common app under additional info with my resume and that was received since it was uploaded with the common app stuff (according to the harvard admissions office)

I actually contacted them to check and see if they received my mailed artist slides as part of my arts supplement, and they said that they can only confirm the required materials, and that if possible, will send a confirmation email for supplementary materials such as arts supplement, recommendations etc. I would recommend emailing them using the “confirmation of materials” form which they keep on file as a reminder to send a confirmation email about the materials, if they have time

I just got my interview scheduled! Does anyone now what the standard questions are? Like if they ask why Harvard? Or something else?

@zhstkdblackbelt Thank you! And my recommender sent hers in by mail.
@NewYork94 I had my interview and my interviewer did ask the why Harvard question. For most of the time, though, we mostly just talked about my classes and books we’ve both read.

By what date do you have to commit to your SCEA school?

@NewYork94 She asked what are you passionate about, extracurriculars, what do you want to major in, books, how you maintain your academic performance and of course, why Harvard. Our conversations built up from those questions, and so we ended talking about our interpretations of the constitution, politics, art, literature, education and intelligence in the United States, and just stuff like that. We talked a lot about some of my extracurriculars also. I asked her a couple questions too, so we talked about that as well. My interviewer was very true to her lawyer personality though so some of our conversations would turn into debates and then we would agree to disagree on certain subjects (though I believe she did that on purpose since she knew that I also wanted to be an attorney and major pre-law). It depends on your interviewer also though, since mine told me not to bring a transcript or anything and chose not to discuss my test scores or academic performance. I feel like she wanted to get to know me as a person minus the objective metrics. Also, mine took notes on the back of a copy of the official Harvard interviewer student report document the entire time so be prepared for that.

Alright, thanks shelly318 and zhstkdblackbelt! My interviewer said we would need 30 min (seems very short) and didn’t ask me to bring anything

In the School Forms section of the Common App website, which parts were due on November 1st? Just the School Report and not the other three things right?

Awks, my ‘counselor’ still hasn’t submitted the School Report, and I’m applying under SCEA. I’m an international applicant, so they should allow some measure of leniency, right?

@Looshin: Dunno man, I’m an international applicant too (which country btw). Better tell your counsellor to hurry up. They take a long time to process it. But the good part is that Harvard is really flexible about its deadlines. IF you send it late, you have to email them an explanation (it’s not your fault if your counsellor hasn’t submitted the stuff), and you won’t be penalized.

@Addwayb
Applying from UK. Uhuh, intend to do so tomorrow. Yeah, doubt they’d have got around to reading it if it had been submitted on time anyway. Fulbright says that teachers should be able to get away with submitting several days past the deadline.

@zhstkdblackbelt,

What city are you from? My friend was telling me about his Harvard interview and he had a lawyer too. He had to fill up some sheet about his info and he said they mostly went over his extracurricular activities.

…just wondering if you are from the same city?

@newsstand1234 I’m in Redmond, WA.

Had my interview today. It went really well, actually. It was quick, about a half hour, and he didn’t really delve into anything too deep, but he said he’d be able to write me a very good letter and that I’m “quite a guy” haha. We talked about the classes I’m taking, what I’m reading in English and Latin, what I’m learning in APUSH, my sports, ECs, etc. Good luck to whomever is still awaiting their interview! ~40 more days of waiting…

is it odd to invite my interviewer to my house?
