If your school isn’t on a trimester/quarter system, don’t worry…If Harvard really goes through the senior grades of everyone whom it considers admission, then the adcom will just require everyone to send it (i’m sure they aren’t gonna send 700+ emails asking for senior year grades and take the time to file everyone of them…)

That probably doesn’t console very many people. :/

I completely just imagined what it’d be like exactly one week from now, checking my phone as soon as I got out class, navigating to emails, opening the email from Harvard and seeing that I was accepted.

The anxiety is killing me right now!!!

Guys, just want to make a note, I think we should push to make sure results are organized on one thread, so we should be looking into making a thread for that or putting it onto the pledge thread. That way, results won’t be scattered throughout a bunch of threads.

Are you supposed to ask for email?

My friend just got into Columbia ED!!! So excited for her, but kind of envious that she knows now…

It’s the Fi-nal Count-down!

And as we get close–perhaps the day of?–we can make a thread with the common format for decisions. Then whoever makes it, we’ll have to make sure there are links saying that discussion is here (or on a different, new discussion thread). And we’ll also have to link the results thread from the pledges thread.

^agreed, and maybe a day or two before wouldn’t hurt, just to make sure everyone is aware of the thread. Columbia and Dartmouth have theirs scattered, and I would like to avoid that mess.

@bestestmom No, you do not have to request for an e-mail. On the application, Harvard gives you the option of receiving an email decision (regardless of your answer, they will send it in the mail too). I initially opted for no email, but my mom just really wants to hear about it sooner (I’d rather have an excuse to drag out what seems like the inevitable for as long as possible, haha).

Does anyone know what effect getting your application in by october 15th as opposed to november 1st had? I know they really stressed it on the website, and I’m the only one who got her app in by that first deadline (others sent it right before deadline). I also got my interview done the week after I sent my interview. Does getting everything done really quickly increase your chances?

@knringwall Haha, I wish! I got my stuff in on the 12th! But I doubt it, especially because of the hurricane this year.

^Yes- getting in by Oct 15th is better than Nov 1st. I have heard from multiple private college conselors that you gotta get your things in by the first date.
The hurricane ppl had plenty of time to finish apps before the hurricane came.

@lovenerds What’s the reasoning for “getting your things in by the first date”?

Hmmm okay that’s good then. Maybe it shows more responsibility/interest in the college?

@shelly318: I highly doubt that’s true. They want to admit the best class possible. The difference between submitting on October 15 and October 30 will probably be meaningless.

Oh, okay. Well that’s what I originally thought anyway.
On another note, do you guys think they are almost done going over everyone? A few pages back, people were saying that they spend the last 3 days just putting together letters and financial aid. It’s crazy thinking that our decisions might pretty much be made by the end of tomorrow…

I actually have no idea why getting things in by the first date is better, but since those private counselors who have got tons of ppl into Harvard said so, I just went by Oct 15th (it’s not like 15 days would change my app or anything).
Personally, I don’t think it would make much a difference…but usually I don’t go with my personal opinions when I have no evidence.

So is it a bad sign if they haven’t requested my current grades?

A girl I met at Girls Nation got into Columbia! So happy for her. Looking at the Columbia and Dartmouth forums is making me so anxious.

just wondering… when do the decisions come out? Is it December 15th at 2pm?

From what I’ve heard, they’re emailed on December 13th at around 5 p.m. EST, and then should be received by mail by the 15th.
