Interesting question shelly318… I wonder as well

How does one join the official group? Do we need to be admitted first? I can’t find it.

“Does anyone know what the subject line of the email would say?”

I can’t remember exactly, but the subject line says something like “Harvard College Admissions Early Action Notification.” Nothing in the subject line will signify the decision.

I actually don’t think getting an interview - whether you are an international or domestic applicant - is of much worth. Many college admissions’ books say that the interview is just icing on the cake and doesn’t factor much into the admission’s equation, since the interviewers, themselves, are not employed by the admissions office and therefore do not have a particular criteria to follow. In short, an alumni interview isn’t of much worth, as it is entirely left up to the personality of the interviewer, who is too subjective for any definitive measure of qualification.

@gibby Okay, phew. Thanks!

My D actually still has the email from last year. The subject line reads “Your Application to Harvard College.”

good luck to you all, get it done!

2 days 23 hours 47 minutes!

Reading the SCEA decisions thread from last year is really depressing.

My parents won’t stop bugging me because I got a 2350 (750 CR) after taking it while sick. They tell me I should’ve retaken or included an explanation (which would’ve been an incredibly lame thing to do). I’m trying to explain to them that 50 points is pretty meaningless but I know that if I get deferred/rejected they’ll say it’s because of my SAT. Arghhh

Ummm what?! ^ A 2350 is perfectly fine. I have a 2360 and I am completely happy with it. I didnt even think to retake it, because I felt like I would do worse lol. If you get deferred or rejected (and I hope you won’t!) it definitely won’t be because of your SAT. I feel like 50 points is never a deal breaker, especially that close to a 2400.

They don’t get it. Middle Eastern parents :P

On an unrelated note, I’m really glad I didn’t tell anyone I applied except for my family and really close friends. I couldn’t stand being deferred/rejected and having 50 people ask me the next day if I got in or not!

Yeah I only told two of my close friends, but somehow other people now know too…:/. Oh well. The most awkward is when my friends’ parents ask me if I have a top choice yet and I just avoid the question…lol. And then they exchange looks like, “Wow…this girl really needs to get it together…” Hahaha. I just really didn’t want that surprised “Harvard?!!” reaction some people give.

I have just been trying to avoid every question about my top choice, where I’ve applied, and where I’m looking at, etc. because Harvard is the only place I’ve applied to so far, and a lot of my schools are top reachy schools. Everyone must think I have no idea of where I’m going or even a list lol…and then there are an unfortunate number of people who I’ve been forced to tell about Harvard. I wish no one knew except my best friend and immediate family lol

I got a 32 on the ACT. Your scores make me feel really foolish for applying now hahahaha

a bunch of people have asked me where I applied early and I’m just like…somewhere and then try to change the topic lol. Getting nervous

@runnerxc look at page 3 of the Harvard [common data set](http://www.provost.harvard.edu/institutional_research/CDS_2011-2012_Final.pdf)

if you have over 690 for reading/writing and 700 for math, you’re in the middle 50th percentile (25th-75th percentile) for the class of 2016. 2350 is awesome, don’t worry.

I’ve done the opposite of you guys - everyone at my school knows I’m applying to Harvard. Friday could go very badly…

And would anyone like to hazard a guess as to who the 3.8% of the class with 500-590 on reading is? I feel like not even a recruited olympic rower quadruple legacy URM (50/50 black/native american) with billionaire parents could pull that off…

my mother informs me that our interviewers get the decision three days before we do. which would be today. any confirmations?

According to this year’s Dartmouth ED statistics, “nearly 30 percent of students accepted are athletes.”

I’m not sure whether Dartmouth recruits athletes more heavily than Harvard, but that means that a comparable number of athletes are also accepted EA for Harvard.

In other words, the acceptance rate for non-athletes for Harvard EA is probably more like 12%, if not less…

Hahaha, I purposely set up a dental procedure on Thursday at 3. I won’t mind being high on antibiotics/sedatives, etc. Also…after weeks of never being free…this week I have nothing going on. So coming home at 2 and then staying in my room would drive me insane! Anyone else?
