LOL @purmou
Another year or two of high school would do him well. Or a firm hold of what percentile his scores put him into. Preferably both.

I got scores that low because I omitted at least 15 questions in each…time got the best of me. I haven’t even taken a Physics course in my life–I’m currently in the class and all we’ve gone over is force and motion. Does that still make it a weak score? Sure, but excuses won’t do me justice. I learned most of the content for that test in the week before I took it, but like I said, the time got the better of me.

And the PSAT is a joke. It’s not even worth discussing.

I said I’m prepared for rejection. I regret my subject test scores but am confident about my ACT.

My extracurriculars are great, especially considering I’m a sophomore. I feel that my essays are very strong.

And staying in high school won’t do me any good because all I’ll be doing is taking college courses that do not challenge me. I’m currently in an independent study BYU calculus course which is ridiculously easy.

I know the reality. But what do I lose if I try? Nothing. Best case scenario, I get accepted somewhere, and I go.

You guys act like the tests are the Gods of academic measurement…they are totally inaccurate, and I don’t just say that because of my low scores. In loosely timed practice tests, I was consistently getting above 720 on all the tests I took…can you explain that with academic unpreparedness?

And maybe, just maybe, because I took the initiative at such a ridiculous age to apply to these top schools, they might see me as a serious applicant. Which I am.

I don’t appreciate the cynicism. Keep it to yourself, you don’t need to go around preaching to me that I won’t get in.

Sorry for being optimistic. I don’t need to tell you guys again that low test scores can totally be outweighed by other strong aspects on your application, and that is my case.

Resist the temptation folks. You are strong! You can DO IT!

Don’t feed!!!

silly ■■■■■ is silly

LOL. Whether he’s a ■■■■■ or delusional, I’ll still be in a better spot come August. :P

Good luck again to all the serious RD applicants, and Merry Christmas. :)

I’ve decided I’ll be applying RD to this school as well. I’m not expecting anything at all.

Will probably submit my application tomorrow :], and thank you!

I’m a little curious, do you guys think we will see a jump in the total number of applicants for RD? Maybe a small drop? Considering the amount of deferred ED, the number will be high anyway I guess

There has never been a drop in applicants TreitheTruth. With the adoption of the common app, international students and just overall knowledge of the application process, H and other top schools are only seeing app numbers increase. Doubling over the last decade.

T26E4,

You said, “There has never been a drop in applicants TreitheTruth.”

Actually, there was a slight drop from the Class of 2015, accepted in 2011, to the Class of 2016, accepted in 2012:

"Harvard College announced today that 2,032 applicants had been offered admission to the class of 2016, entering this August5.9 percent of 34,302 applicants.

“The admissions rate last year was 6.2 percent (2,158 offers of admission extended to 34,950 applicants).”

[Harvard College admissions rate falls to 5.9 percent for class of 2016 | Harvard Magazine](http://harvardmagazine.com/2012/03/harvard-accepts-2158-applicants-to-class-of-2016)

Hey guys,
I am applying to Harvard RD as well. I have a query and was wondering if anyone here could help me with that.

Well, I am conducting research under a professor at a university. Since it’s still under progress, I will not be able to submit a research paper to Harvard. In that case, will an abstract suffice, illustrating the work I have been doing till date?

Moreover, since the deadlines are really close, will it count against me to do several research projects but not submit any research materials i.e. paper or abstract?

Thanks!

i had a similar question to goforitman. i’m doing a half-day research internship this year for school credit and it’s also still in progress. i was planning on giving a short description of my research in the additional info section of the commonapp. since it’s not a full paper, i don’t have to mail it in, right? also, since i’m not planning on majoring in science, would it be a waste for me to talk about my research at all? i just wanted to give some background for what i’m doing this school year.

I think I’ll be submitting both Common App & Supplement on new years eve. That makes me so freaking nervous bc Harvard said specifically to send in your materials “as soon as possible.” urghhh. I’m just making my rejection more of a reality at this point…

Ahh I’ve decided I wont be applying here.

@notjoe: thanks for pointing that out. I erred completely. NOw that I think of it, Yale hit a high of 29K 2 years ago but edged back slightly too, IIRC. I guess some magic ceiling might exist? LOL

“I guess some magic ceiling might exist?”

That’s the $64,000 question, isn’t it? After a decade of rapid growth at Harvard (and other schools), was last year just a pause, or are applications leveling off? The next few years will give us the answer.

I will be joining everyone here in the RD pool!

^^^^^^^^^^Me too

I forgot to list my senior AP and IB exams on the Common App. I got deferred early. Should I send an update? I would feel silly doing this, especially since IB students have to take all of their IB exams (so I hope that they would assume I’m taking my IB exams).

Plus, I’ve gotten a 5 on every AP exam that I’ve taken thus far… and I hope they’d assume that I’m taking my AP exams this year.

Any opinions? I hope I’m freaking out over nothing.

Just submitted my supplement. Now I just have to finish the commonapp.

I don’t think you’re supposed to put your senior year exams on the Common App, they can see what you’re taking from your transcript
