***Official January 2015 SAT (US ONLY) THREAD***

I remember that they were to explore a new field of study and to evaluate something. I don’t remember the rest

Sorry, I don’t remember that one.

I said it was to apply a scientific term

is the 300 million people in India have English as second language one NO Error?

What exactly was the sentence?

Did anyone say that for one of the questions about mars that the media gave Mars too good of an image or some answer like that? I remember the author described how uninhabitable a place Mars is and then said that the press makes Mars seem like we should colonize it so I thought that saying that the media provided a misconstrued image of what Mars is like would be the most concrete answer.

I don’t know how the hell some of y’all got 3999 because you took away the zero. It was 4000 without the zero already if you took the correct mathematical approach to it.

the india one was not NO ERROR

What’s the answer for the question ask about the alternative word of “call” in the music passage? Is it “demand” or “request”. I don’t really see difference between them.

Hey guys I have a couple of questions.

  1. For a question that was 30-35 writing, did you get “should be removed from the paragraph”?
  2. For a section 10 question, was it “twice that of”
  3. For another section 10 question, was it “did not prove” or something along those lines (the other choice I was debating but decided not to put was the “had not been proved”)
    Thanks in advance!

What did you all say strike means? Did anyone say inflict?

It was impress I believe

@bobyojoe‌ yes for everything you said! I said did not prove as well as I though it was better than had not proved, and since had not proven was not an option. I know the other two are correct as well. Could you tell me what you said strike means? Did you say inflict?

I answered below, whoops I don’t think I replied to you specifically (sorry I’m kind of new). I believe it was impress (one answer was impress I remember)

so what’s wrong with it?

@bobyojoe‌ I see how it is impress. Thanks for input

Are the essay graders usually harsh?

its “has not improved” as of 2003

@alexphan202020‌ “Well my thought process was that that the boy was deep in thought on his experiences at the village. However, at the same time, he realizes that in reality, the village is being demolished. The battle, IMO, was between mind and matter- dream and reality.”

But the dream is a vehicle by which he’s attempting to hold onto the past. The clear struggle is between the present and past; in fact, the present has already changed the village which is why he mentions the villagers forgetting all the different terms for apple. He wishes the village could continue to stay exactly the way it is (refer to the second paragraph where he is discussing all the anachronistic aspects of the village), but he knows that the present is going to alter the village whether he likes it or not.

Set F: all even integers from 2 to 10,000 inclusive
Set G: all multiples of 5 from 5 to 10,000 inclusive

Question: How many members of F are not in G?

We first have to determine how many members are in each set. To find this, use the formula [(last term - first term)/increment] + 1

So for F it would be [(10000-2)/2] + 1 = 5000
And for G it would be [(10000-5/5] + 1 = 2000

Since the members of G are half even and half odd, there are 1000 members of F that are in G.

To find how many members of F are not in G: 5000 - 1000 = 4000
