Official January Sat 2 Math Level 2 Discussion Board

Oh man I wish there were somebody to discuss my chem like that. I did not do ANYTHING to prep for chem, so I feel mighty unsecure now.

yeah i kno how u feel
i did chem last year and i thot i BOMBED it
i got 750
-_-
chem is HARD!

I am doing intermediate organic chem in college and in into organic chem and we are doing MNR spectroscopy in lab and here I am - taking some gen chem SAT and they are asking me which element burns yellow-orange. How pathetic. So I just refused to study for this test at all.

^was it like copper??
wait, maybe that's blue. sodium?
hahaha a bit off topic
anyway, in my opinion this 2c test was alot harder than the october one but a bit easier than the december one

Yep, there goes my 800 hopes!!! 4 omit and 3 wrong at best....ooy.

Sorry for hijacking the post.

For the ferris wheel question:
you can put the equation into ur calculator
make the window to shoy y=0 to 30 and x=0 to 20
it looks like it is around 11 seconds from the graph, so i wrote 10.32

Dictator: I'm in the same boat :(. 4 omit and 3 confirmed wrong, with more likely to come. Upsets me because they were such ****ty errors. Hope we end up in club 790!

My deadline was january 2006 because I am a transfer, but can't you guys just retake if you don't like your scores? If I could I'd just take them all 3-4 times. There's no way you won't get 3x800.

LOL, I don't think colleges would like students retaking SAT II's that much martinix.:)

Hehe...
I love it how people think they know that stuff and all they do is apply common sense. Let me tell you how it works. There is a software that selects your highest scores and only one admission person sees all your scores. One out of the whole committee. And there is a reason why the software doesn't track "how many times the test was taken" - it simply isn't an indicator. Conspicuous, compulsive, and repetitive test taking might be noted if it is completely blatant, otherwise - no.
So, by the time your file makes it to the voting table in the end that is the last thing that they think of. And seriously what's better? A low score or multipe SATs? I know prople that took them up to 6 times. 4 is completely normal.

on SAT I 780 and 800 is regarded as the same score. However, the bigger difference in percentiles in SAT II call for more discrimination and SAT II Math 780 is a little bad if you want to do MIT, Caltech, or simply Math major at top 15.

Yeah, but if you want to do an English major at the top 15, 780 should be fine. (:( I hope!)

Of course.

Yeah. 780 -> 800, i probably won't retake.
780 or less (since its like, 18th percentile) i'll probably retake in December or so. shrugs oh well.

Its done everyone - CONGRATS!

Now i can worry about the AMC this Tuesday!

Is 780/or less, really 18th percentile..???

God no. It's like 80 something percentile.

Even a 700 is 60th percentile.

Max Question: Max(x,y) = x if x is greater or equal to y, y if y is greater then x. Asked to find the least answer.

(2,3).... correct? I liked how they used the word max... prolly threw a couple of people off because they were looking for the max answer. Haha.

I got 1 for f(100).

Crap... it said "least"answer?... Oh well. I should've read more carefully... One wrong answer (and maybe a few others) won't hurt.

But I think I also got 1 for f(100).
