Official June 10th ACT Discussion

Hmm wait if the question was phrased like that they you would be right but didn't the question state whether or not she thought that the foundation would find her story USEFUL???

If my wording of the question is correct(which I think its is) then the answer is definitely UNCERTAIN since she clearly stated that she was unsure how valuable her viewpoint would be for research/informational purposes, merely that she tried her best to incorporate the true story of her life and her husband's existence.

Also, what were the answer choices for the flower garden question with side 150 tan40? I think one choice was 36, which I may have put down by mistake, instead of 46.

I don't think she was pleased since it seemed like she was indifferent about the whole thing.....

ok you make a good point but i'll stay with my choice, uncertain would make sense if it told you that in the end she didn't write the story, a historian did, then she would be uncertain of what was written.

She was clearly UNCERTAIN.

the family who was on a camping trip and bought 25 bundles of oak wood? I thought that question had no answer.

it was a system of equations

Yeah, I thought that on the test - that they may just be tricking us - but D had "impolite and ____" and impolite is also an adjective. There were no options with adverbs.

17 pines ....

The Community people wanted her to write it for money. If you looked in the story there was a line that talked about FINANCIAL gains from it.

And what verb came before the rude?

Was it just rude, or impolite and rude?

17 pines x $2 = $34
8 oaks x $4 = $32
$34 + $32 = $66

i thought it was rude b/c impolite and rude is kind of redundant

step 1:
x + y = 25
4x + 2y = 66

step 2:
4(x + y) = 4(25)
4x + 4y = 100

step 3:
4x + 4y = 100
- 4x + 2y = 66

2y = 34

step 4:
y = 17

Where y is the number of pines and x is the number of oaks

really, b/c I just plugged in each of the answers until i got the right one, which is probably why i did not finish the math section

had I plugged in the answers for a lot of them, too. I finished though, and honestly don't think I missed any. That's okay, I bombed the other 3 sections...hard.

Well, I just tried answer choice C first and I happened to got it right the first time ;)

Yeah, that's why I changed it to rude.

Was it "when he had a moment?" (reading section, on the waiter's promptness)

i dont remember what i put for that one, but i dont think it was that. i think i picked the answer that was the shortest and sounded right.

It was
A. NO CHANGE (in a moment)
B. when he had a moment
C. some time later (?)
D. a while later

I'm just paraphrasing... it's something along those lines.

Edited.

It was A, because it was saying how prompt he was

I put C for post 317

kchen: I put A (no change)
