Official June 10th ACT Discussion

kept it the same....frozen

what was 1 st passage about? I was clueless...the rest were easy

What did you guys say:
1) What was the latino guy doing when he was "passing?"
2) Why did the old woman describe herself as frail? What was her mood? (Hesitant to optimitic) Why was she doing it (Financially help it out)? How did she characterize the mood of the golden years- Comforting... W
3) What about the last question for passage #4, about those things that fly from Mexico to the USA? I said it was unusal.

It was Frozen.

One of the prime numbers had to be two.

Oh, and did you guys get many "vertical ladders," where you get like CCC or BBB on your English section? I counted four?

one of the prime numbers had to be 5. 5 = 2+3, and 5X 3 = 15, an odd number. 2 is equal to 1+2, but one isn't prime.

For the one about the collection of midpoints of chords with the length four, I put circle. I imagined it as a concentric circle.

I got a lot of A and F on english....

I did not get many C's in reading

I put point because the mid point of the diameter is the middle....

Go To Aim Chat Room: Junact

400/3 or 200?

200

here's why

the sides of the smaller triangle are not half as large as the sides of the one it is inscribed in. the first square has sides of 10, the second square has sides of 5root(2) because the sides of the inscribed square are hypotenuses of 45-45-90 right triangles. so the first inscribed square's sides are found by finding the hypotenuse of a 45-45-90 triangle with legs of length 5. you multiply the length of the leg by root(2) to get the hypotenuse. thus the inscribed square has a side length of 5root(2), making its area 50, not 25. following this pattern, each inscribed square has an area one half that of the one preceding it, not one fourth. adding them up, it approaches 200, not 400/3.

1) passing - being entertained
2) the woman was saying she was like worthless... . my stupid ass put evoke sympathy, which is wrong, because evoke means provoke
3) i also put that it financially helps the community
4) i also put that it was unusual for insects

It didn't HAVE to be 5. One of them COULD be 5.

One of the numbers HAD to be two.

(2+7)3 = 27

ODD.

5 is nowhere to be found.

i also put a circle for the midpoints of the chords..... it is clearly the definition of the circle

Wht about the louisana? Was it like an approximation based on data?

No, it was that he didn't conduct the study during the night. He did it during the mid summer days, when the majority of the bugs travel by night. Therefore, he was inaccurate.

I sucked at the Math but I rocked the science. Everything else was at least O.K.

yeah I put circle for the chords one, too.

name some other questions.

what side did u guys take for ur essay?

English: easy easy
Math: fair (I made some really dumb mistakes)
Reading: Easy
Science: Difficult

H(x) g(x)- what ever... what did u gys get? i got 3

i got 7 for the h(x) and g(x) question, i don't remember the problem
