I am from Illinois, but at least you and some other people are in the same boat I am in! I guess it’s normal for that to happen.

Will results for the October test be in by November 1st (ED deadline)? Or is it a lost cause…

My daughter’s from upstate NY and her scores are not in yet either. Does this mean we have to wait until Wed at the earliest or should we keep checking? I don’t get the holdup. She did take the writing portion–is that the case for everyone else waiting?

36! still waiting on the essay…how do some people have it already?

You won’t get the scores back for about 2 weeks. But if the requirement says that you must have TAKEN the exam by Nov. 1st, then you’ll be okay. You can take the September test too.

@Lori thanks! I totally forgot there was a September test date!!! Phew…

Did you consider the ACT to be “hard”? i found the questions to be, for the most part, straightforward and easy
Were you confident on all your answers? no; on each section except math, i felt a bit iffy about 1-2 questions
How much prep work did you do? i basically took 5 official practice acts; I used only the official ACT red book
How many time had you taken the ACT before you got your score? None; this was my first time, and I got lucky!
Do you have any tips for me to get a score 30+?
english: be careful; i always like to do everything first, leave 5-7 minutes at the end to re-read the passages with your corrections. also, go with your gut- i basically did that for every question, even if for some i wasn’t completely sure.
math: this was always my strong point, so idk except practice lots, and find patterns in the types of questions they ask.
reading: budget your time! don’t read too much into the questions, since 85% of the answers are directly in the passage. So don’t choose answers that would fit with the main idea but that you can’t find specifically in the text; these are almost always traps.
science: budget your time even more! read fast, but be careful not to overlook anything. also, be sure your are answering the EXACT question they’re asking you; they often throw some curveballs at you that are designed to penalize carelessness.

Do the ACT people also send the ACT scores through mail like send it to my house?
And if they do, how much is it and when do they usually get in by?

^ I got my scores in the mail today.

Today? Did you take yours with writing?

I took mine with writing so maybe it will take longer

Writing takes longer to get back, but you can check scores online periodically to see if they’re there, as the online scores come in faster. My stats:

Composite: 29

Needless to say, there’s room for improvement. I’m only entering 11th grade, so there’s still time for me to improve. Plus I’m doing a testmasters class this fall.

I saw others post their subscores and saw this for Eng: 36 (18,18 for subscores) which looks like none were missed but my son’s score shows 35 (18,18.) Why wouldn’t it be the same as the others if the subscores are the same? Thanks in advance!

My English subscores are 18/18 also and I only got a 35 in english. It must be just one question wrong=18 but overall one wrong still = 35. I’m not sure if I’m right but I can’t see another reason why it wouldn’t be a 36.

Your son seemed to miss one question on the test and the overall test had a curve so that -1 will give a 35 English score but each subsection (or just one of them) had a generous curve so that

Usage/Mechanics

39-40______18
38______17
37_________16

That is the best example i can give
And the same could be possible for rhetorical and whatnot

Yes, first time he had subscores of 18 and 16 and it was also a 35 so that is why I wonder why 18 and 18 isn’t a 36? If he missed one and it’s counted in the curve, why wouldn’t his score say 17 for example? Why do others say 18,18 and they have a 36? Thanks again for helping me understand. It’s driving him crazy because he has a 35.25 and if the Eng score was a 36 it would bump his score up to a 36 composite.

Thanks IdontGIVEaSHIZ, I think I get it now. Even though the subscore shows 18, one question must have been wrong. The last test must have had a more generous curve in that he still got a 35 with more questions wrong, I guess. Still it drives him crazy to see other scores listed the same as his and they get 36 only because it would have pushed in to a 36 composite.
