Official June 2012 ACT thread!

So you guys on here make me feel really stupid because I didn’t do great but I’ll be retaking the ACT and this was my first time.

What is the best book? How did you guys become so good getting 30 and above?

I really want something that will really boost my score.

Composite-34
Eng…33
Math…32
Rdg…36
Sci…33

Regardless if you got 18/18, you can’t miss ANY for perfect on the English section, same goes for math. Reading Idk about. But I do know science is brutal curve.

Becky I got a 31 on my first mock ACt try. To study I got Princeton review 1,296 questions book, because people said the questions were a lot harder than the real thing, so its good to challenge yourself.

So what is the difference between “Cracking the ACT” and the “1296 ACT”? Which one is better?

Cracking the ACT teaches you tips on taking the ACT and reviews what is on each section. 1296 ACT is all practice tests. I used both and from the first practice test to the last my score went up 7 points. Use Cracking the ACT first, then do the tests in the other book for practice.

Ok thanks :)

What other book are good for score booster? I really help on my reading section.

Just keep taking practice tests, you don’t need to learn how to take the test cause you already have thinking skills.

So I took the June ACT at the end of my sophomore year to gauge how much I would need to improve to reach my goal. I got a 30 composite, and I was pleased. However, I really would like to score a 34+. So, two questions: (1) Is that a feasible goal? I feel like I can definitely score in that range with taking multiple practice tests. How much did you all increase/decrease by? (2) Will colleges see this score if I don’t specifically send it to them? Also, can they see how many times you take it if you only send your highest score? Any insight helps! Thanks!

cbbird360, this goal is very attainable. You only need to get a couple more questions right in each section. It just takes some practice, mostly figuring out which questions you consistently get wrong. I scored a 29 in April and am hoping a higher score from my test in June (I tested as a standby).

Guys I cheated on my ACT and it went up 11 points, but I got my score back so am I in the clear

Trollololol

@evaahockey, how did you cheat? It’s like impossible to cheat. I guess unless if you were looking directly on someone’s answer sheet.

Hi everyone! I got only 23 on June ACT (that was my first time with one month prep), so is it possible to be accepted to university and then retake that while studying?

i got a 29 on the april one. somehow, i have no fricking idea how, but my score went up to a 35!! i just tought this june test was particularily easy.

I haven’t gotten my score back yet :(.

Composite 35
English 36
Math 35
Reading 36
Science 33
Essay 10

Really happy, first and last time taking it. Hopefully good enough for Dartmouth!

cbbird360 i took the plan test and got a 27. I did absolutely nothing to prepare from fall of sophomore year to this past june and got a 35. You’ll be fine, just being older helps immensely. But if it makes you feel better do a couple tests ;)

I first took the test in December and got a 28 (E: 24, M: 32, R: 29, S: 25, W: 12). In June, I got a 31 (E: 34, M: 30, R: 31, S: 29, W: 10).

My increase by 10 in English is most likely thanks to many practice tests and just a simple review of the types of rules they ask about.

Kgolfing, awesome site! I hope to be able to contribute
