^I also got 1.08

Also, what was the range for the box plot question? This was brought up earlier, but there doesn’t seem to be a clear agreement for the answer…

there was a question with 3^x<x+3 (?) anyone get it?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/maths/images/figure_86.gif

Pretty sure 13 was the right answer.

For soomin’s question, I think I had -<x<+ but I don’t remember the exact numbers.

I’m pretty sure the box plot was 13. For the cliff, what was the question again? I know the angles are 30 and 45, but what was the distance?

i got 13 as well for that one

For the cliff one I set x/sqrt3 equal to x-30, x comes out to ~71. Subtract 30 and you get 41.

the question with 3^x thing is the answer with -2.9 (something like that) < x < 1.3 (something like that)
The cliff question was: The angle of elevation to the top of the cliff is 30 degrees. As you move 30 ft closer to the tower, the angle of elevation from that pt to the tower = 45 degrees. Find the height of the tower
I got 41 for that too.

@Dunhgy The distance was 30 feet from the 30 degree angle to the 45 degree angle

the ones who got 13 in the box plot question…how did u do it?

What was the distance that was given for the cliff question? I wanna try and do the question again.

What was the answer to the problem asking for the least number of real roots for Ax^5+Bx^4, etc.>?

I got 0 for real roots, but very unsure.

What was the one with the two lines l and y=x and the point (0,4) that asked for the slope of the line l?

my friend put 0 because he said that it could be complex but i took a wild gues for that one

You’re not given a distance, just that it is originally a 30 degree angle but is a 45 degree angle once you walk 30 ft closer.

I had 1 for the least number of real roots, -3 for the slope of the line. (Area of triangle is 2, base is 4, so height has to be 1, point is (1,1).

@henry I think that was 1. I just graphed x^5 and there was one root. There is no way that the equation can have 0 real roots.

Oh wait, thinking back it was probably 1 real root.

Whats the answer to the one with 2 spheres? I put point sphere and circle

@21plus21
i got -3 for the slope of line l, since the intersection of the 2 lines was at x=1

Thanks henry. I just did the cliff question again and i got 17.3 again? Can someone else do the question again and clarify please? Thanks. (angles are 30 and 45, distance between is 30, try to find the cliff height)

i got -3 as well and i put point and circle for tgat one
