I really liked the essay topic! I used Gilded Age politics and the Cold War.

i ALWAYS find a way to relate everything to the Gilded Age. recently, orwell's 1984 has been my savior as well....too bad i blanked out on the test haha

The Count of Monte Cristo has found its way into all of my practice essays, along with To Kill a Mockingbird or the Civil WAr. Can't think up personal experience very well :/

What is the Gilded Age if I may be so bold?

is this a good quote. i said "you really like her you might wife her, i dont like her so i one night her." i used that quote to develope my essay

" K so far we have 3 Essay questions, need one more. I'm guessing the last one is for international students.
1) Individual goals/dreams compared to one goal/dream.
2) Loyalty - when to use/not to use
3) Teamwork - (Good/Bad)?? "

^^^

1) & 3) are the same.
The question went something like are groups or organizations most successful when their individuals pursue their own wishes/goals?

Are you allowed to use sports examples? I used the NBA for the groups prompt, and I think it fit perfectly.

OMG my heart literally just dropped. I read the first post and assumed i did not fully read the question. (I had the Loyalty one). Wow. Wow. My examples were gangs and racism.

i still think my quote is best for this essay topic

i fear that my 2nd example wasn't as clearly developed as i would have liked...

My first was:

Early American Republic... how we had the 2 political factions (Federalist and Anti-Federalist) and instead of going their separate ways and forming two separate groups they compromised and formed the Constitution. This was essential as the power of Britain was still looming around...

(this i am a little worried about) I used the example of the Punic War and how Hannibal came to the Roman territory and just dominated it... The Romans chose to follow their leader to attack Carthage instead of staying to defend their families... I wrote that this was essential as Hannibal had never lost a battle so if they did not have every soldier then this could have turned out disastrous.

and for both i wrote about how the outcome was positive so it was a good decision

But i came home and told my brother (who studied Livy's work) and realized that Hannibal never even got into Rome... he attacked the borders but could never get in so the choice wouldn't have been to protect their families :(

Hopefully they wouldn't really penalize me for that... as most high school kids learn it the way i learned it. I took Latin and that was how i learned it...

I highly doubt the essay readers know the precise details of the the Punic Wars lol

It's not how factually correct your examples are but more how convincingly you use it

yeah i think so too lol :) thanks

how were my examples though? They make sense for that essay right?

I hope i can get a 12 on it though i have never gotten a 12 on any practice essay... i've gotten a few 10s though. I always felt that they were being a little stricter so on the real test day you will always get a higher score. Who knows?

a raisin in the sun - everyone wanted their own thing, but they shouldve been thinking of the family as a whole

and the apprentice. :)

looking at everyone else's, i feel like i shouldve thrown more in. oops.

2 examples should be fine... i have a problem with having more as 2 examples, an intro, and a conclusion already fills up both pieces of paper for me...

so another example would not have allowed me to write a conclusion... or to shorten my entire essay

yeah, i totally understand. so this isnt related to the essay, but i finally found someone to actually respond to MY question...here goes.

how does the experimental stuff work?
like, is it the same section for everyone?

when will the collegeboard post up which section was experimental?

unfinished essays have earned sixes, but they have to be pretty good

there are more than 3 experimental sections. You will find out which one was experimental for you when you get your results back.

i prompt was about teamwork

i argued that personal goal can harm teamwork
and used

Paradis Lost about Eve
and King Lear about two daughters
and how their personal wishes broke team and failed and stuff

mime was only page and 1/3
is that bad? oh man :(

are these okay examples?

I wrote about that much, I hope I still get the sixes!

mine was about 1 1/2...i had so much to explain but time unfortunately ran out. i hope i still will be able to get a 10 tho...11 would be great

i only had 3 paragraphs (im screwed -_-)

i used Ralph Waldo Emerson's Self Reliance
and

a random guy i made up the name and wrote a story about he made his own company and became more successful i a new company by working by himself.

...
