Official March SAT Math Discussion 2008

I am in all seriousness, 300% sure that the reflection answer was A...there were two reflections across two different lines. The point at which you end up was to the bottom left of the graph provided (A). And, yes grahams, the answer to that q was 12 (100% sure).

griffon the answer was 256, there is a massive consensus on that answer...you don't have to believe it until you get your score on the 20th though lol.

griffon: think about what you just said. the original is x. in 12 years it is 256x. 256x/x = 256

and the one that lots got 4/9 for...i dont even remember the 1/3^-x etc.. problem...any chance it was experimental?

griffon the answer was 256, there is a massive consensus on that answer...you don't have to believe it until you get your score on the 20th though lol.

no...in 12 years it is not 256x...its just 256...do the problem again. it doubles 8 times....which would be 256...which is 128 times the original you start with..2

THE ONE THAT THE ANSWER IS 12:

it was x+y=20, and then 3/2x=y

so you usually solve for x right? which is 8. but the question asks for the BIGGER number which is 12, which is why that q was tricky.

this question was in the upper left hand of the left page. i believe it was right before the grid ins; although i cant say for sure

the answer to that one was 4/9 (100% sure, mass consensus)

and yes grahams ur right. who's disputing you on that?

you dont start with 2. why would you come up with that conclusion?

and what if you started with the number one...there are no exceptions so try doing it your way on that...after doubling that 8 times you get 128...so if i do it your way 128x/x it equals 128 bud

you can start with whatever freakin number you want

wait so the 4/9 one was not experimental? cuz i really doint remember that problem

thank GOD!!!! I got two 8s as answers on the fill-in grids as well!!!

order for the slowest to fastest?
anyone remmber?
i got b.. or c
but i remember the one right after the answer was fastest to slowest(opposite) so it could have fooled some ppl

i'm pretty sure it was c

I got A for the line reflection thing.. I remember starting in the lower right, going up around the center, then reflecting back across to get to the lower left which was A. Hopefully I started w/ the right point, but I double checked that one..

for the slowest, wasn't it the answer choice w/ karen as the first name?

can someone explain the (1/3) x question

because when i did it ... i found out that (1/3) ^-3 = 27
so I said x = -1 and y =-2

so i plugged that into the next equation ,... (1/3)^-2 + ((1/3)^-1 = 12

=/////

what was the average rate question with answer 13.3???

It was 3^-2 + 3^-1=4/9

ohh okay i think i got it then lol thnx

does anyone remember the question with a function .. moving 2 spaces to the right .. and asking what the y intercept was ??

someone please solve this problem...If computer chips double every 18 months than how many times the original is the number of computer chips after 12 years.
