Accepted, so happy, good luck to everyone - you are all impressive and will go far!!!

I was accepted!

I was accepted. I guess this shows that grades and test scores really aren’t everything. I’m very sorry for those of you who weren’t accepted, and for those who were deferred, don’t lose hope. Try to show who you really are and what you really care about by sending in a supplement or something. I’m very excited to be part of the class of 2019, and am confident that I will be seeing some of you there with me this fall.

Accepted good luck to everyone else.

Accepted!

Congrats to everyone who was accepted!! I’m thinking about applying regular and I was just wondering, what made you guys choose to apply early to Midd over all the other LACs?

My D was accepted!

@vballgurl, she also loved Colorado College, Bowdoin, and Bates the most out of 25+ schools we looked at. Middlebury was her first choice because she loved the campus, the general vibe, the the dance program, environmental studies program, everything about it really. She wanted to be in New England (we’re from MT), and was seriously considering Bowdoin and Bates if deferred/rejected, but went early to Midd since it felt more outdoorsy than those two in general.

Colorado College was her 2nd choice and she applied to CC EA. The Block Plan appealed to her, and she was really impressed with the classes she visited at CC. Colorado College has so many similar qualities to Middlebury (that matter to her)- outdoorsy vibe, great dance program, engaged/active student body, environmental studies etc.- but in the end she wanted to be in New England so she went for Middlebury ED.

Hope that helps, good luck with your applications and try to visit the schools you are interested in. It can make a really big difference to spend some time on campus!

I got rejected. Middlebury has been my dream school for my entire life so I’m very upset. The other schools on my list don’t make me nearly as excited as middlebury. Does anyone have ideas on where I might apply ed 2 that are similar to middlebury, have strong environmental science, and an outdoorsy feel? I have all a’s in my classes which are all AP, a 34 act, and good extracurriculars.

@maczoo, look into Colorado College. It is a fantastic school with all the attributes you have mentioned. Has ED2 as well.

@maczoo Colby and Colgate, Bowdoin and Davidson

washington and lee

I’m gonna go for colleges like Colgate, Vassar, Bates etc in RD. For reach colleges I have Amherst, Swarthmore, Bowdoin and Dartmouth. I’m gonna take the SAT again in January and up my score to 2200 at least. Best of luck to everyone

Accepted!!

@maczoo, i would consider Colby. i visited, and i believe it fulfills your interests. the atmosphere is very nice as well.!

I got deferred, and I’m still trying to keep my hopes up. What do you guys think my chances are?

ACT: 33
GPA: 4.0 (weighted)
Grades: averaged around a B+ throughout high school, had 2 B minuses, but took lots of APs and honors
ECs: volunteer sixteen hours every weekend in the winters since Freshman year, play lacrosse, cross country, ski, sail, huge cyclist, do studio art (took AP 2D design)
Interested in French and environmental studies (which are kind of big at Middlebury (lol))
From New England
Has family friends who have close ties with Middlebury

Plus how many people do they usually defer versus reject?

has anyone tried to get their @middlebury.edu email yet? I sent my deposit but I can’t activate the email yet

isminho - Your reaches will be more difficult to get into than Midd was ED and Colgate, Vassar, Bates will not be safeties for you. You should plan for the possibility that your scores do not improve much and even if they do, you still need some schools that are less selective than the ones you mention. Consider St. Lawrence, Union College, Denison, Earlham, (there are lots of great LACs in the Midwest that are less selective than their northeastern counterparts.) I think your list needs to be more balanced.

merp101 - you would be well-served to move on…you might get in RD, but I would focus on finding great alternatives in case you don’t. Only 17-19% of applicants have been admitted RD in recent years.
