@cr15315 “We have just completed the review process, evaluating what was the most competitive group of Early Decision candidates ever to apply to Middlebury.” Do you think they are telling the truth or is this standard college jargon?

@trekslxchick You’re right about Colgate etc not being safeties and Swarthmore, Amherst etc being even harder than Midd. My entire college list has other colleges like Trinity College, Franklin and Marshall, and Grinnell College, to name a few.
But the entire idea is on improving my SAT score to have a better chance. 2090 was not good enough for Midd. When I first took the SAT, I got a 1910 (CR 620, M 630, W 660). Second time I got a 2090 (CR 770, M 640, W 680). I screwed up Math for some reason and I plan on studying my ass off for Math only and increasing my superscore to atleast 2200, which is very much possible tbh. Once, and if, I do get a score around 2200, I think I will have a better shot at colleges on my list.
Also, Midd didn’t have a supplemental essay. That didn’t make things any better in the end because I feel writing and expressing my viewpoint is a huge part of my application skill-set. Almost all these colleges have supplemental essays so that will help me advance my viewpoints and opinions.
All in all, fingers crossed.
Best of luck to everyone out there.

did you do the american challenge with overland?? If you did, I wrote about that in my essay as well!!

@isminho The SAT is important, but I will add that I was accepted ED with a 2020 SAT composite (620M, 690CR and 710W) and a 4.0 uw gpa. I think that a big reason I was accepted was my Common App essay. Because midd doesn’t have a writing supplement, this essay must have been a super crucial bit in the evaluation process. My story is definitely case and point that Middlebury does maintain its holistic admissions philosophy- statistics are merely baselines here.

f

@cauldroncastle That is standard. My friend got the same last year when she got her decision (ED), but she was admitted to Williams, Princeton (where she is now) and Columbia in the end.

@monacoishuge Absolutely, colleges like Midd do holistically peruse and analyse a college application. But then again, I am an international student asking for insane amounts of aid. Almost all colleges, including Midd, are need aware for me. Therefore, I need a higher SAT score than the one I have for a better a shot at these colleges

Have you been able to activate your @middlebury.edu email? It won’t accept my PIN. Does that mean that it just hasn’t gone through yet or something? I know it’s supposed to be within three days; I suppose we just have to wait?

If deferred, don’t lose hope! If rejected, you’ll definitely find a place that will make you happy! If accepted, congratulations! As someone who was accepted ED last year, it is exciting to be done this early. Welcome to the Midd community. :)

@Upsidedownpour I was able to activate mine about 3 days after I sent my deposit

Is there a Class of 2019 facebook group or somewhere everyone who got accepted can meet up? I know there is a middlebury group on facebook but none specific for our class

i have been looking around for a “middlebury 2019” group as well!

if somebody is up for making one, i’m sure a lot of would appreciate it.

there are so many other colleges with their 2019 facebook groups already up and active.

i am also sure that we are not the only accepted students looking around for one.

When do we get notified for ED II?

@laxswim did you join the middlebury group with the middlebury.edu email? its probably the best place to make a class of 2019 sub group

@TinnyT who made the Facebook group for your class? i’m in the middgroup on Facebook but can’t find a subgroup for the class of 2019 or the class of 2019.5, and I wasn’t sure if I should make one myself

@jumpsenior15 I am still waiting for my email to activate! Then I will join the group.

@jessthemiddkid A kid from the class of 2017 made our Facebook group. I’m not sure about the status of a 2019 Middlebury Facebook group.

Someone should make one!

Did anyone else get the message: “Pin Valid Error while looking up username from PIN: 8 Digit ID Number not found.” when trying to set up email account? I can’t proceed beyond this.

I believe that you either have to send an email to the admissions office to confirm your intent on going to middlebury in the fall( that was what it said in the mail, and they said that after they send you an email in three days, you can make your middlebury email and such), or you have to make a $300 deposit. Hope that helps
