You really need to go look at the transfer pre-reqs for Bio, because they’re mostly science/maths and not humanities. I’m not a bio major so I can’t say specifics, but I can say that you’ll definitely need harder units than those you currently have

@macy - you have a nice load of classes, but like jet said…you should get started on your science classes asap. but since you are only a freshman its understandable that it would be difficult to get them…im surprised you got so many already haha

[Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org)
use that site for UCLA/UCI fill it out etc…ull see you have a lot of pre-reqs to finish
IGETC is soemthing you should also get familiar with

clubs/events - join honors, PTK,AGS, caduceus club, etc. anything you have interest in.
through honors there are conferences you can present your papers on etc.

i think so far you’re fine, but try to get started on your pre-reqs asap.
have you taken the chem placement test yet?

thats all i can think of right now…oh yea
go to the honors center and MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH LINDA DIAZ
she will make your life (not just at mtsac) 10x more stress free

Thank you!

I know my classes are easy right now since I’m not taking math and science classes, it’s because they were all FULL. I was in the waiting list but nooooo -_- So I decided to take the easy classes like Sociology, Rock Music H&A, and all that first.

But I’m gonna try my best to get in those hard classes in Spring. I really hope I can get in :(

I think once I’m in the honors program, that’s when I’ll ask Linda Diaz about my Spring classes.

Oh and I haven’t taken the chem placement test yet… I took chem in my junior year with an old, quiet nun teacher… So I’m not even sure if I’m gonna do great in that placement test. I barely passed that class! lol ■■■ x_x

Is it okay to join a club in Spring? Or does it have to be during Fall?

Oh btw, I’m gonna take General Biology instead of Intro. to Philosophy (:

Bio AND Poli sci??! you’re gonna be there all day! Since Bio is lecture in morning and lab in afternoon. Not to mention Poli Sci in the evening…isn’t that a little to much?

Well true… My step dad told me it’s too much so I should either take Bio by itself or Poli Sci with Philosophy.

But I’m thinking of taking English 1A now… lol I mean I can take English 1C when I’m in the honors program for Spring, right?

BTW, another question… I might be spamming with questions and I’m sorry (haven’t talked to a counselor because it’s always full). But I took Algeb 1, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra 2, and Honors Precal in my HS, and I had a low placement score at Mt. SAC and I didn’t wanna take it again. One of my friends was in the same position so she went to a counselor and showed her HS transcript and asked if she could be at the same level of math she took during her senior year or higher but not a lower level and the counselor let her…

I’m wondering if do you guys think I could get into Precal or College Algebra if I show my transcript to the counselor? My grades were A’s and B’s, no lower than a B.

1.Take Bio. Because that’s more to your major.

Try to retake if not …take the Cal Placement test. I’m planning to take it before Spring starts…to give myself a little time for preparation. Because for any science major…you need at least Math 180…if not more…
… as for asking counselor…ask the counselor in the Math building…they will exempt if you have taken a certain math classes.

You’re in Eng1A…GREAT! Ask for the Orientation for Honors.

Good Luck :)

Just to answer one question, if you take Honors 1C in the Spring and take McCormick, I doubt you’ll get an A. This is statistically of course. I’m one of three people in two of her 1C classes getting an A. It’s very difficult, but you really will learn a lot. So if you want to learn, take her. If you just want the A, don’t.

@Churroke: I hope that the 2 Bio classes don’t get full! That’s really my 1st choice now.
Cal Placement Test? o.O we have that there? Oh and what is Math 180 again? Is that Calculus?

@JetLogic: Thanks for the encouragement lol I would’ve been backing out and scared to take her class because of your doubt, but I’ve always been taking challenges, especially with English classes because it’s my 2nd language, so I’ll take her class in Spring. (:

Oh I totally encourage you to, just giving you fair warning. She’s probably one of the best teachers I’ve ever had.

Math 180 is calculus, if you can get Tran and again want a challenge, I’d take him. He’s a good professor, though hard, and he will prepare you for upper div math.

Oh I’ve also forgot to mention, another way to get priority is through the forensics team, which is like a school debate team. I don’t know much about them, but I do know that they offer priority reg.

Okay, thanks for the advice on that :D

Hmmm debate… No thanks >.> lol

Sheesh sac is overcrowded like crazy…idk how you guys deal with it

1 day at a time lol

^ Agreed. lol it’s one of the best comm. colleges :D

and your point is? ^

the point is we should try to remain positive. :)

mtsac is overcrowded, but there’s a reason why. it is one of the best CC’s with great transfer rates. like mtsac, SMC is also crowded, so is PCC.

be patient, be persistent, be positive and always persevere

TT i have like theee latest reg date… even my friends with less units than me have a better date ***ffuuu ToT
people were telling me with my date, it’s probably not possible to get a class )':
:T i really want Eng1CH… and if not either Nutrition25H or soc1H
T_T i hope i will be able to get at least one of them…

stay positive! My registration date is late too…only a day ahead of yours… and I have a lot of friends that’s on the 30th too!

Just waitlist…I’m sure you’ll get in. Winter is not as impacted as Fall/Spring because it goes by so fast and NOT everyone have the time or commitment to do it.

Just positive! we’ll get our classes :)
