Registration dates are out for fall…

Is July 26th late, considering the fall registration date?
What date is actually considered early for the registration date?
I’m so worried that i wont be able to get classes :(

yea thats quite late :(

registration for fall started as early as july 19th
anything within 5 days is considered early.
anything after that is gonna be hard

Thank you Dainese :slight_smile:
I’m actually in a special situation. I had a 3.89 GPA in high school and wanted to enter the Honors Program. Unfortunately, I only got placed at the English 68 level so I emailed Honors and turns out that they offered a “pre-Honors English 68” class. As long I pass that class with an A or a B, the nine transferable units will be waived and I’ll be accepted into Honors Program by Fall. However, I thought Honors students get priority when registering for classes but mine turned out to be on the 26th :frowning: So I’m really worried that I wont be able to register for Honors classes in the fall because they said “if I pass the class with an A or B”…the class is only half-way through by next week…if i can’t get Honors classes for fall, then what’s the point of taking this class? sigh…
I’ve already emailed them to ask information about this but not yet replied.

and as for the connect 4 thing, im attending and i was just wondering: does that mean I’ll get to register for classes when i attend the program?

thank you so much for you time!!!:D

oo good job on going to connect 4. im not sure if ull register there but if you do taht would be nice because you are supposed to get priority registration through it. but only for 1 semester i think.

and honors fill up really fast since they only allow 20 or so students for each course.
some profs will add, some wont. but always worth trying…
but you shuold be fine when you register through connect 4. and i am not sure if they will register you on the spot or give you some code, but you should get priority :)

@SandraC

You’d better find out if you’re actually part of that program because it will help you tremendously your Fall semester… This only applies to you if you are just coming out of high school and you’ve graduated from a high school in the Walnut Valley school district. And assuming you were a WVUSD student, you should already know all the info about Connect4 if you attended meetings during your senior year of high school.

About your English class placement…
Hurry up and setup an appointment with an English counselor and have them review your English placement essay so that you can get bumped up to English1A. First the counselor will read your essay and judge if it’s sufficient enough for English1A. If you pass this part the counselor will ask you a series of questions on why you think you should be bumped into English1A… So you better think of a good answer.

Because you let us know about your problem a bit late… here are the things you should be most worried about.

1) If you’re even going to get an English counselor meeting date before your registration date. (Usually takes about a week or more)

2) You need to find out of you’re part of the Connect4 program in less than a week because priority registration for fall semester begins on July 19 and i’m pretty sure that’s when connect4 students will be registering.

3) You’re most likely not going to be able to take honors courses this semester because even if you do get bumped up to English1A you’re going to have to wait about a week or more to get your name into the honors system and by then registration will have already begun… So make sure you have a plan B, a plan C and even a plan D.

Good luck~

@Dainese
Thank you for the information and advice! :slight_smile: I hope ill get the classes i want!!

@vanquishfire
Thank you for your advice! Im sure im part of the connect 4 program because I received the program thing through mail with my name on it. I asked whether I was able to register for classes while attending the program because I thought we had priority when registering. However, my registration date came up to be on the 26th which is Not prior at all.I thought it should be on the 19th or the 20th, something like that. I called High School Outreach and they said that students will register for classes when we attend. The program is on the 22nd, 23th, 26th and 27th. Mine is on the 22nd so I guess that’s the date ill be able to register even though it wasnt as early as i thought it would be.

As for taking honors classes, I’m taking English 68 right now. It’s the pre-honors course that i mentioned before. I emailed the Honors director and she told me that she will key in my ID for the honors system early next week. So hopefully I can register for Honors classes by the time I attend Connect 4 next Friday.

Yes, I have multiple back-up plans and hopefully I’ll get the classes i want!! :slight_smile:
Thank you once again for all your helpful advice :D

Im glad my registration date is before all those connect 4 ppl :smiley: lol

damn that sucks lol… :frowning:
gl sandra. dont give up haha.
trust me, youll want to after dealing with mtsac ._.x

Hey guys!
My Fall is locked in, let me know if we share any classes
Math 280 - Tamayo
Math 285 - Sholars
German 1 - Era
Physics 4B - Tatoian
Tutoring 1A

^^Whoa, you can take 280 and 285 at the same time? Also, how hard is physics?
Here is my schedule:
Math 280 Tamayo
Phys 2AG Jensvold
Chinese 4 Chang

How screwed am I?
Also, anyone in my classes or who just wants to study together/help with their classes/make friends hmu(:

I am registering for my grandson while he is at work. On a few classes, I have noticed that the cap was reached and a waitlist has started, but then later apparently someone dropped the class and the Act (total) dropped below the cap and REM(aining) indicates 1. However there are people on the waiting list. Why isn’t the first on the waiting list automatically moved to the open spot? Or can someone else register for that newly opened spot?

@Sakiale physics isn’t too bad, but my 4a teacher made it seem that way. Luckily I’ve heard good things about Tatoian, so we’ll have to see

has anyone taken math 110? what professor do you guys recommend? has anyone taken rene pyle?

what about for bio 1/4?

thanks!!

@Sakiale- Jet is right. Physics 2A isn’t too bad. Just make sure you read the book and you should be fine.

@starscatteredsky- I’ve taken Math 110. I took Troxell who was okay. He wouldn’t teach the material very well, but the class is incredibly easy if you put the time into learning the material yourself. I taught myself everything and ended up with a grade of 103%.
Idk about the Bio classes…but for the love of whatever god you believe in please take Bio 1 because I need a Bio 4 class and my registration date isn’t until tomorrow :wink: haha

@lachesis I was talking 4A, I’m not sure how the 2A classes are here. I’d assume they’re probably not bad though

@lachesis; I was going for Bio1 anyway :slight_smile: All the best in getting into your classes.

Anyone recommend Evette Reagan for Psyc19?

Where I plan to transfer to: any 4yr school that offers good bio program
Major: Biology
GPA: 3.7

hello, guys!
My name is J and I have quick question.
Basically, this is my second year of Mt.Sac, and my major will be biology(Like lots of future biology-majors in this section). Also, by this Fall 2011, I have plan to get honors program since I have taken 6 units classes so far, and I am now taking 3-unit class this summer.

My goal school is bascially U.C. However, since it is super, ultra competitive to transfer for bio as it is one of the MOST impacted major to transfer, I am open to any 4year school that offers good bio B.S program. Ultimatley, I have plan to go to Pharmacy school, thus school repuation does not matter for me since most graudate school needs good GPA, not good reputation from top schoools (may be it matters?!)

Anyway, my question is that in terms of taking classes, I am follwing IGETC basically,
but do I need to take other non-science-related classes such as Art or social classes?

What I am saying is that I understand bio major needs lots of bio-related classes, but what about non-bio related classes such as Art & social classes? Are these classes wavied for bio major?

This question sounds silly, but I am really confused…
Is there anyone who can clarify for me?

Any reply would be helpful…Thanks in advance.

@wertwww

you do know that schools like UCI and UCSD have a pharmacological science major right? they aren’t impacted either. the prereqs are almost identical to most bio majors as well.

and if you’re planning to TAG to a UC then IGETC is your top priority but try to knock out as many major prereqs as possible in the process
