wow, that was quick! I appreciate your quick reply. I didn’t even know the UCI and UCSD have pharm. science major and even prereqs are similar to major. Thanks for the valuable info! I will definitely consider about pharm. science major as I will research about it.

Sorry let me ask one more question. Ok, so you have mentioned that try to finish many “major” classes. Then, what about G.E classes such as Art, Social(such as history). Is it better to finish just like “major” related-classes before transfer to any other school?
Thanks again for quick reply!

i think something like bio would require you to finish all your IGETC, and as many major pre-reqs as possible. thats why some science majors end up taking more than 2 years to transfer from the sheer number of classes they need to complete and at the same time competing with every other science major to get those classes.

pick your classes wisely if your registration day, or ur patience, allows it.
choose classes that can double up as both a requirement for IGETC and a major pre-req

Hi guys im kind of having trouble deciding what classes to take this fall.
So far ive taken Couns 5, Engr1, Hist 1, Eng68. And im currently registered into eng1A, and soc1. I’m still deciding on my major so i’m just trying to take GE classes right now. Anyone got any ideas of what classes i can take that are interesting or that i need to take care of GE. Thanks in advance guys.

@thatoneotherguy: you should definitely look up the IGETC requirements and try to knock those out. You might want to take a math class too. I’ve met quite a few people that decided to become science/engineering majors 2 years into their Mt sac experience that are screwed because they hadn’t started the math series.

So here’s my schedule for the Spring:
Physics 4A, Math 181, English 1A, and Ethics. I’m trying to get into Engr 8 though, which would then replace the Ethics class.

Is anyone else having serious issues with ‘Myportal’ on Mtsac’s site??

Im trying to pay fees but it keeps taking me to Not found and The requested URL /prod/gokcsso.pcallbanner_sserv was not found on this server.

also, im entering my 2nd year at SAC and had am still undeclared about my major/career. Let’s say I wanted to be a pharmacist, would I have to focus on classes such as biology, chemistry, anatomy, physics, calculus as my ‘‘major pre-reqs’’ ?

remember I’m following the IGETC + would I have to take those classes I listed or does this depend on the requirements from Pharmacy school that I may go to?

(so would I go from MT.SAC to a 4 year to a Pharmacy school?)

You can go to [Welcome to ASSIST](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST) to find the pre reqs needed to be taken for whatever you decide to major in. If you want to be ge certified then you would have to follow the igetc format. Although the igetc format is focused on CSU/UC. I’m not sure about pharmacy school.

@AsTran thanks for the reply, very helpful link, I found UCSF has a school of pharmacy, so the requirements it lists I would have to complete at MT.SAC to be able to transfer there correct

and what do you mean by ‘If I want to get certified’

I haven’t decided my major yet but im taking the courses that are listed in the IGETC/CSU/UC reqs so I won’t have a problem transferring

is there something wrong with the myportal?, but it seems like that i can’t search any classes, i.e. italian… it doesnt show me any classes ever since last night after 8 PM

Oh!, i didn’t notice that, i guess im being blind, THX JETLOGIC

BTW i’m an incoming freshman, and i’m currently on a waitlist class, what’s the best thing i should do?, should i go to that class on the first day of school?

@nifloe
I asked if you want to be ge certified because you dont have to complete all of your ge in order to transfer unless you would like to graduate with an associate degree and show you are certified of course.
