Reflection

Strengths: Rank, Cross Country, story
Weaknesses: ACT (for now) UW GPA
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Because of my ACT obviously, after looking at this thread. No matter, I retook it a few days ago.
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: Rejected WUSTL ED (Figured the 42% ED acceptance rate would fare me well), Accepted to a few state schools and U of Tulsa so far

General Comments : I feel really conflicted about my chances for colleges in general now, but since the ACT 25% to 75% is 30-33, and I applied to Engineering, I don’t think it told me much at all to get a deferral. And the accepted people all had 34’s and 35’s or a 4.0

@nanotechnology This came from my scholarship letter
“If you receive additional scholarship or grant assistance from University funds that exceed the cost of tuition when
combined with your Dean’s Scholarship, the Dean’s Scholarship will be reduced so all grants and scholarships equal the cost of tuition.”

Hey guys lets try to keep this just results if we can, discussions/comments can go on the other thread, thanks!

Teacher Rec #1: My english teacher, who I had for all three years of high school english classes and both my AP english classes. I never knew how much she liked me until the letter. Astoundingly good. I was very surprised.
Teacher Rec #2: My other ap teacher who I also had for three years and was my jv basketball coach my freshman year. He wrote very well about me and my personality, it was very personal and once again, I was surprised but how well my teachers knew me.

Applied for Financial Aid?: Yess
Intended Major: English
State (if domestic applicant): ME
School Type: Public, poor, rural.
Income Bracket: Upper for my area, not so much for Boston hah

Reflection
Strengths: My essay and recs. I’ve made the best of what my school can offer. I’m statistically the top of the applicant pool for my area.
Weaknesses: Math SAT crushed my spirit hah. Extracurriculars were pretty good, but nothing stand out, ya know?
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: SAT. A little bit of everything maybe. I think I’m kind of an average applicant for these more competitive schools - I’m hoping I’ll do better at some of my other schools. I think having supplement essays only helps my case as I’m a strong writer and applying to be an English major, and I didn’t have that luxury at Northeastern.
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: I received full tuition and offer to the Honor’s colleges at Lesley University and my state school. I’m expecting much of the same from Suffolk University, which I should be hearing back from soon. I’m applying RD to Colby College, BC, Brandeis, and Tufts.

General Comments : Kinda bummed. It was the only school I applied to EA that wasn’t a safety school, but hopefully I’ll have better luck in the RD round!

Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I was able to show my interests and personality effectively through my application.
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected:

General Comments: I’m going to wait for my RD decisions in March before making a final decision of where to go but Northeastern is very high on my list. The very generous scholarship also helps!

Teacher Rec #1: 8/10 we have a pretty good relationship and I did well in the class
Teacher Rec #2: 11/10. i had her in 9th grade and again this year and she helped me through a very difficult time so we maintained a strong relationship
Counselor rec: my old guidance counselor (who I never met) quit the week before senior year started, so I am not even sure who wrote my recommendation or when
Additional rec: I got a letter of rec from my principal. I’m a scholarship student at my high school which helps, and he likes me

Reflection

Strengths: essay
Weaknesses: definitely my act scores for someone who wants to do medicine
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: unfortunately I’m pretty average on paper
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: accepted so far at Fordham and assumption college (with 75% of tuition covered, but it’s a safety). Denied from Boston college

General Comments: i really really did not want to be at my high school in ninth grade and I had a really hard time with a lot of different things that year. I think it showed in my grades because my gpa was significantly lower that year. luckily I trended upward sophomore and junior year and I have pretty consistent grades now.
i fell in love with NEU when I first visited, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I get in this time!
