**Official Northwestern 2016 ED Applicants' Discussion Thread**

I remember how nervous D was last year, and totally understand, but since you’re applying ED to NU you are clearly hardworking and intelligent folks who will thrive wherever you end up. Don’t worry, be happy… and bravo to you!

I wish they told us exactly what day the decisions were released!

Prospective Social Policy Major :)

I just submitted my app wearing my Northwestern T :)

Prospective WCAS Undecided major!

prospective Weingberg undecided major!
just submitted my app!
still very nervous and excited…wow i just applied to NU early decision OMGG

mccormick applicant,

im nervous though, cuz my gpa is low,
and i screwed up on the supplements.

i didnt include the title: for why nu and research

do you guys think they will look down upon that , like i cant even follow simple directions?

any thoughts would help

It was so scary to hit the submit button, guess now we just have to wait and see!

sirlaxalot- Relax! It’s over and its out of your control so don’t worry! I’m sure your not the only one who forgot the heading.

Did most people submit research supplemental essays?

dang. i didn’t put the title either…

This seems like a great place to vent! I’m so nervous, aha. I’m sure I’m not as qualified as everyone else, but I’m hoping to get in!

Prospective WCAS Undecided major!

I didn’t put the title either… I’m sure if so many of us overlooked it, a lot more applicants did. Don’t worry!

I’m applying to the School of Education and Social Policy - prospective Human Development and Psychological Services major  and I am completely dreading December 15th…

sirlaxalot- I don’t even remember if I put the title or not… Hakuna Matata fellow laxer

Another SESP applicant! :). Good Luck. Don’t dread the 15th!! It’ll be a relief once you find out.

the 15th will definitely be a relief…unless you get deferred, aha! I’d almost rather get an outright rejection than a deferral. Almost.

^scratch that. I read somewhere that NU doesn’t do deferrals?

Also, does being part of a low-income family count as a hook, even if you’re not a URM? I’m an ORM. Here’s an excerpt from an article I found on NU’s website.

“Three years ago we made recruiting low-income students a top priority, and those efforts are paying off,” said Christopher Watson, dean of admission at Northwestern."

I think I might just be misinterpreting the statement though, aha. But if recruiting low-income students is a “top priority,” does that mean it is advantageous to be low-income, similar to URM status? Or does this just mean that they’re raising awareness of NU’s existence and financial plausibility to low income families?

i submitted my research on how i built and studied a radio.
if nobody else put a title, thats some relief .
yeah and NU does defer,
id much rather get rejected than deferred, it messes with your mind.

which other schools are you applying early action and regular?

SlotheK: I dont think you can look at that statement literally,
but i know for a fact that even if you are from low income families, you need to prove with your grades and ec’s how you try to break out of it.
i read in the book by the dartmouth admissions officer how they evaluated each applicant.

you definitly have an advantage as being a low income applicant, but you need to show how you defy your circumstances and take hard classes.

Prospective Econ major. I cant wait… Omg Dec 15th. Im getting senioritis oh no im slacking too much.

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC App

i havent been doing homework because ive been spending all that time looking up other peoples chances at Northwestern Ed.
and comparing those to mine.

^ Hahahahaha!!! :)

My daughter did not put a title on her Why NU essay either…I would think when they read the first line they will know the nature of the essay. I thought she was smart but I guess she can’t follow directions!!!

I don’t think being deferred would be too bad actually haha.
sirlaxalot: I applied EA to Michigan and UVA and regular to another 11 schools that I’m not going to take the time to list (ivys, one midwest, one cali and two south). Hbu?
