I would rather be deferred :)

I would rather be deferred :)

i applied ED to northwestern, and EA to michigan/ LSA ross

im still deciding about RD for 8 other schools.
my school does this thing where you can only apply to 10 schools

Calmama: ahah i know… and the fact that i realized this one SECOND after I clicked submit/ send, AFTER print previewing it. I almost cried.

^ Sometimes the posts are informative and sometimes they are entertaining! My daughter saw my post and was like, “Thanks alot mom…”. For what it is worth, my daughter met with the admissions rep for our area-California (I know, big surprise looking at my screen name) and he said that very few get deferred usually just rejected or accepted. That being the case, I think a deferral is a very positive sign.

I sent in all my ed agreeement, supplement, common app.
But i just got an email today saying this:

According to the Common Application, you designated Northwestern as the university to which you would apply Early Decision. As of today, we have not received your application.

If your plans have changed, there is no need to contact us. However, should you still plan to submit your Early Decision application, please submit online and/or postmark your application no later than Monday, November 7.

We thank you for your interest in Northwestern and look forward to receiving your application.

Sincerely,

The Office of Undergraduate Admission
Northwestern University

WHAT IS GOING ON?!
IS THIS JUST A System lag?
i really need some advice right now…

I would call undergraduate admissions and (if possible) Common Ap as early as possible Monday morning (I’d also try today just in case someone is in). Remember Daylight Savings time.

Did you get anything electronic at the time you submitted that indicated that you had successfully submitted to NU from the Common Ap?

Hopefully someone who just submitted can offer more specific ways to see what happened.

I’ll bet you can get it straightened out!

Don’t sweat it, they said you have until Nov. 7th so you can straighten it out on Monday if needed. Also, you could try emailing the main admissions email or if you know your state rep., him/her. I believe that the Admissions departments understand that mistakes happen and are lenient when need be. Some things are not in the applicants control. It will be fine!

Goodluck. Possible WCAS Econ major? :D

If any of ya are interested in business, shoot me a PM or have me host you for Wildcat Days. There are definitely some things particular to Northwestern that should be known.

Good look ED! I was RD, but I know how much ED students love the school even before visiting, so I wish you all the very best!

^Definitely interested in Business! hahaha also everyone just calm down, even you don’t get into Northwestern you’ll still be the same (presumably) hard-working person wherever you end up, don’t sweat it :D

I applied RD but I sent in my application already! I just wish I didn’t have to wait until April to know! This is going to be the longest wait ever :(

Waaaiiit. Uh-oh. I might not have sent in a Counselor recommendation, although I think I did. If I didn’t, is it too late to send one in? I’ve already sent in all the other materials (transcript, commonapp, supplement, application fee, teacher recs, etc.). If it is too late to send one in, does this void my application?

DUNDUNDUNDUN.

Aha. I knew I’d forget something.

I’d call admissions ASAP to be sure they’ll accept the letter late, but I’m guessing they will. You could also check with your counselor and get it ordered ASAP if it wasn’t sent. IIRC, our counselors had to submit non-electronic letters directly rather than through the student?

I submitted my ED app a while back, and I don’t know HOW I’m going to wait until Dec. 15! I applied as a Journalism major, and I absolutely LOVE everything about Medill and the rest of Northwestern. The winters sound harsh, and as a Floridian, I really hope it’s not TOO terrible.

I’m happy I found this thread! Best of luck to everyone! (:

Assuming the date is Dec 15th, there are only 38 days till we find out, it’s actually pretty soon if you think about it. That’s 912 hours, which seems like nothing! 54,720 hours…

I am really glad to see that other people are stressing about their early decision app as much as I am! When did everyone receive their “complete and under review” email?

@tstoim: Exactly 23 hours after I submitted everything via the common app (sent test scores/transcript months ago). So submitted everything tuesday morning Nov 1st at ~10 and got the email on wed morning Nov 2nd at ~9.

@jenwhite I’m from Florida too! The first thing anyone says when I tell them I applied ED is “you’re gonna freeze” haha.

@tstoim I received mine on Oct 27, and I sent in my app a few days before that

I sent my app in either Oct. 29 or 30 and received my complete and under review email today

I submitted my application the 23rd and I have only gotten an email saying they’ve received my application but nothing about it being complete and under review. Is it worth calling the office of undergrad admissions? will they be able to check and tell me or should I just wait?
