Official Northwestern class of 2017 RD thread

Did anyone get their finaid package already?

I got my CAESAR information, but when I clicked “View my Financial Aid Award” it said that it was unavailable. I contacted the financial aid office and they said that no awards will be available online until April 1. I’m guessing the paper copies of those materials will be mailed shortly after.

I guess this page is now defunct - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Northwestern-University-Class-of-2017/417747581617275?fref=ts</a></p>

However this is the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/300025903439066/</a>
And it has 5 admins… so you ought to get in sometime :p

@Kaydosa - When did you get your CAESAR info?
I just got a mail informing about Wildcat days…

Also the page after our acceptance letter, which asks if we intend to enroll is for use later isn’t it??

LOLOLOL… Seems like I got ■■■■■■■. That group^ there is fake :stuck_out_tongue:
Managed by ■■■■■■■■.com
Haha!!

This is the OFFICIAL GROUP.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/544437542236500/</a></p>

And the admin is BUSY… as Kaydosa pointed out!! :/

@rishav In the packet that tells you about Wildcat Days there is a separate sheet telling you how to activate your NetID and create your Northwestern email account. Your NetID is there. You do not need to accept the offer of admission to activate it. Once activated, you create a password. From there you can go to CAESAR and use your NetID and password to log in and view your financial aid info. I got my packet and completed all of the above on Saturday. I live in Chicago, though.

The official group posted above is run by the Wildcat Welcome Board of Directors, so it is very much official. The WildcatWelcome BoardofDirectors account posted “Yes, admits will be let into the group soon!” I think they may be waiting until the end of spring break, or something like that.

@Kaydosa - thanks!! I live half way across the world, so it will be some time before I get my acceptance package! Haha!! :D

@Crimsonstained - Maybe they’re just checking whether or not we really were accepted and that we’re not some trolls. :stuck_out_tongue:
By the description of the page - It looks a VERY OFFICIAL one.

I live halfway across the world as well and I got mine yesterday!

They sent it by fedex…very efficient.

@MaR00n - Where are you from??

And did they email you guys a Fedex tracking no. or anything??

Anyone get into the FB “Official” group yet??

All the way in Africa- Nigeria.

The entire packet comes in a Fedex envelope, with a piece of white paper on the face of the envelope, on which is written your home address and a lot of other stuff including a tracking number.

Funny - Case sent mail via Fedex too and it reached me in two days. NU’s hadn’t :(

Btw, is it ok to join the fb group even if I haven’t decided whether to attend or not?? :P

Does the decision email have the link and login info? Still waiting for mine. People in my area received acceptance and waitlist info last week, no acceptances yet…

*rejection (not acceptance!) and waitlist

^ IIRC the login stuff came only with the snail mail package.

@Maroon - No, I meant that were you contacted by either fedex or NU via e-mail regarding the admission packet before you received it??

And India is farther away… so I am assuming it’ll take a bit longer. Though it took 3 days for Fedex to deliver my supp. materials to Dartmouth!!

Guess I’ll be getting it tomorrow!! :)

@tronvader - No problem I guess… I doubt most people have decided yet. If you were to choose someplace other than NU, then you could always leave the group!! Really upto you!! Haha!! :D

@Rishav oops…I was beginning to wonder…no they didn’t contact me with a tracking number by email. You’ll probably receive yours by tomorrow no need to bother

Anyone have any tips for the waitlisted?? I know the chances of getting off are almost nonexistent, but I’d appreciate any advice!!:)

It took days last year for my son to get his rejection from NU. There is no question that the Admissions Office has seriously deficient IT, because as someone pointed out other schools seem to be able to have their decisions communicated without nearly as much drama. To their credit though, at least the Admissions Office was a lot more pro-active in communicating this year on CC.

@Maroon - Ok! I can’t help it but wait. :)

@luckster - http://collegeapps.about.com/od/theartofgettingaccepted/tp/wait-list-getting-off.htm</a></p>

Anyone else here prospective MMSS?
