***Official Northwestern Class of 2018 ED Discussion***

Did you guys hear about the 14% increase in ED applicants for this year? Not good!

I actually recently emailed Northwestern admissions about deferring, but the admission counselor told me that they don’t defer.

I looked at last year’s thread-ppl got their decisions on the 12th.

Hopefully we’ll become a family not only here but also in NU in the future!

@texasteen no waaay I got into Tulane too and it’s one of my favorite schools, so I’m not too stressed about NU. If I get in, awesome. If I don’t, I already have Tulane and I have some awesome RD options!

I thought they do defer…

Ehh I’m not too sure. I’m sure even if they do, it’s a VERY small number.

Well let’s just hope we get acceptances so that the word deferral doesn’t exist. While deferrals are rays of hope, im too tense to accept a maybe. I want a clear yes or no.

My brother was deferred two years ago, along with 50 others I’m pretty sure. He was then accepted!

I’ll take whatever I can get, deferred or accepted! Hopefully accepted… NU is definitely a reach for me… I have an okay GPA of 3.7 or 3.8, I have no idea honestly! However I’m 180/560… And I’m horrible with tests!!! So you can only guess how horrible my ACT was! But if NU is what everyone claims to be about being diverse, I think my resume makes me a great candidate with a study abroad in Italy! Plus I have alumni in my family… It’s a toss up, but I’m hopeful!

How many international students do NU admit each year?

How many international students does*

You guys might find out earlier because you applied earlier, but Northwestern emailed me saying that I’d be notified of their decision on the 15th. I’m just now submitting my ED application though because I wasn’t matched through questbridge.

Those of you who keep saying that NU doesn’t defer from the ED round, that used to be true. But I can tell you that my S was one of 27 students who were deferred 4 years ago. He was told “flat out” that they wanted to see his first semester senior year grades. He is now a very happy NU senior. Good luck to all!

A couple people from my school applied early, and I’m scared they’re only going to take one of us. Do they compare students from the same school?

Ok Stupid question…If you get deferred from ED, is it still binding if you eventually get accepted? My son’s first choice is obviously NU, but wondering if he would choose his second choice if he gets deferred…

will they send us an email a few days before they send out decisions? how are we supposed to know what day they will come out?

@nymomof3boys, no it is not binding once the student is deferred.

NU just sent me an email and I was freaking out…but It was ad. oGosh

@Gungunbaby

9% of the Class of 2017 are international students. Take from that what you will.

if you applied to bienen music school…do you get results from just that school earlier? and then hear from nu when everyone does? bc ik you need to get into both right?
