After some technical difficulties on behalf of NU, I finally got email at 11 p.m. (EST), so that was frustrating.
However, there was a link about halfway through that led to a different page saying “congrats, you’re accepted” stuff… And we found out about financial aid just a couple days later (I was RD, but this is true for ED as well)

The decision to fill out other applications is seriously a tough one to make. It’s hard accepting the fact that your first choice school may not work out, but I plan on applying to UNC-CH and Vandy if NU doesn’t turn out to be in my future. But we’ll all see soon enough! I have high hopes.

@kk2013 I’m assuming that you are already at NU? I was looking at some school stats and I saw that some people get accepted with a relatively low test score. Have you heard of anyone like that?

@mather001
It’s really a mixture of people here, because test scores don’t necessarily say that much about a person overall… While I haven’t heard of anyone too terribly low, I do know some people who just aren’t good test takers, but have done amazing things outside of school.

It also really depends on your major, because Bienen, for example, test scores don’t matter as much as ability.

See I have horrible test scores… I can’t take a test to save my life… I wish that wasn’t how it was lol! But I have satisfactory to excellent grades, 3.78 GPA and in my opinion I have an impressive resume/essay but my ACT was in the 20s… Which as far as I’m know that doesn’t fit the NU student description…

@Mather001 You should’ve taken the SAT! I think it’s much easier to prepare for than the ACT, I scored a 188 on my PSAT and an 1890 on the SAT then prepared almost every day for 2-3 weeks before the test and scored a 2240

Yeah so… I did lol I sort of goofed and took my standardized Tests this year and I was only able to take it once and it wasn’t that much better so I just sent my ACT. I’m just hoping I’ll be that random person that gets in lol

Forgot where I got the info, maybe on NU website idk, but I remember class rank is the most important factor when NU AOs look at applications. I am worried b/c my school is super small and doesn’t offer any class rank…Really nervous recently, just looking at all sorts of info and stats everyday. I know I should work on my RDs but still…NU has been my dream since a long time ago

How important are guidance counsellor recommendations? I know they are below academic grades and test scores, but are they above or below essays?

Don’t worry about class rank… And all of the stats!! Remember they look at your whole application. There’s no point in worrying about your stats especially now, there is nothing you can do! I know it’s hard but I think we all need to stop stressing about NU as best we can.

A few weeks ago I couldn’t see myself anywhere else. NU is still of course my dream as it has been my entire life, but in looking at other universities I’ve been able to become (a little) more okay with the idea of rejection. I truly do love my other schools I’m applying to and I’ll be happy there too. I’m still going to be devastated if NU rejects me, but it’s not going to be the end of the world (a few weeks ago, it would be.) It actually really is helping me to not think about it too much, not look up stats and other info, and work on other apps.

Haha okay to be honest I was freaking out about it a few days ago, but hey I’m trying!! I’m kind of expecting rejection, so…

Anyways, let’s all try not too worry too much! :)

@cocoa546 Thanks for these words you are sweet. Good luck!

@gungunbaby Thanks, you too!

And @JuicyDumpling I don’t think certain parts of the app are “above” or “below” others…I think an outstanding rec holds some weight, and a bad rec maybe raises a flag. It really depends. It’s really about how every piece of your app goes together, I think.

Hi everyone! Here’s NU’s common data:

[Common Data Set, University Enrollment - Northwestern University](http://enrollment.northwestern.edu/common-data/)

C7 (on 2012-2013 at least; I didn’t bother with the other years) gives what Northwestern looks for most. Hope that helps!

Crazy to think that in a weeks time we’ll know. Best of luck to everyone!

lol, glad to see standardized test scores are only “important” as opposed to “very important”… Thanks for posting @ohhayitsme !

Haha, no problem @juicydumpling. Trust me, I’ve scoured the internet for anything I can find to soothe myself regarding this gosh darn process. (Unfortunately, I’m rarely calmed; that, however, is a different thread entirely.)

AH I remember turning in my application and being relieved that I still 2 months & that cushion of time before hearing back. but now it’s less than a week?! I was having nervous breakdowns this past week and fretting over my application. but like some posters have previously said, what’s done is done! I (and I’m sure almost every one of you) poured out my heart into my essays. stats and test scores are too late to change. all I can hope for is that admissions sees me as a future wildcat! I’m a little nervous because I heard about the 15% increase, but we still have a fighting chance I’ve even thought about postponing opening my acceptance until after Christmas, but I’m way too impatient for that! PRAYER CIRCLES FOR DECISIONS DAY! (btw I read someone’s post on here that the acceptances come later in the day…so if we get them around 5 pm does that equal rejection?) anyways, best of luck guys I’m hoping we can all be future wildcats!

wow honestly didn’t mean to go off on a rant. excuse my apparent lack of ability to get my point across short and sweet :(

@Kxtreme16 - From what I’ve seen, they are released pretty randomly after 5pm, so if you are one of the first to get your decision that definitely doesn’t mean it’s a rejection! :)

So the decisions are said come out the 12th, 13th, or 14th correct?
