****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2019 Discussion Thread****

@NUHopeful19‌ Similar situation. Low standardized test score

@alafae I don’t think your out of the running then. You’re competing against some top international students, but colleges want your money as well. And the international award may really help if you show NU that you are dedicated to the piano.

@alafae It’s an awful feeling. I would really like to think that NU can look past this.

@queserrva‌ Thanks for the encouragement. I really hope NU does look past scores like @NUHopeful19‌ said.
Well I’m applying to Bienen for my double degree too, and I’ve heard from a teacher whom I’ve gotten to know, that they’re planning to issue me a 4 years full scholarship. Don’t know if it helps with School of Communications’ admission tho!

I may have to change my user name if I’m not accepted. o___o

A smart thing to do is apply double degree so that you have 2x the chances of getting accepted. Later on, you can always change colleges (except to Medill)

@queserrva‌ That’s exactly what I did, but my parents won’t let me go to NU if I’m only accepted to Bienen, that’s why I’m worried like hell ;(

@alafae I’m confused…do you have to be accepted to both of your schools? Because it sounds like you’ve already been accepted to bienen if you might be getting a scholarship which is AMAZING

@cms4515‌ If I’m accepted to either school, I’m in…so I’m basically in already…LOL. But like I said above- parents problem :(

@alafae I would consider transferring into WCAS (assuming your applying there) if you’re only accepted to Bienen. I’m not sure if it’s completely possible but WCAS is definitely the easiest college to get into.

@alafae sorry if these questions are stupid haha but if you’re accepted to even one of your schools don’t you have to go? Cause your binded by the ED contract? Or are you not obligated to attend if you don’t get accepted at both schools?

@queserrva‌ It is possible, but like I said, my parents don’t want their friends to percept me as a music student, sigh. Family family family.

@cms4515‌ If I’m applying to double degree and accepted to only one, I’m not binded because it’s not my first choice. No worries, I was confused too until I asked NU office!

Did anyone receive a Northwestern fee waiver? I did before I applied ED, but I did not apply for the waiver.

I’m a dual degree applicant too with the piano major. I asked them and they said it’s binding if you only get into one school

@kkkbj0101‌ Why did I get the answer that it’s not binding if you only get into one school?! No way. Can you copy that email? pm me

This is the email replying to my inquiry about the binding agreement:

Dear Amanda,

If you apply for the dual degree early decision and are accepted to one school but not the other, we will not hold you to your early decision agreement.

Please let me know if I can be of any additional assistance – I am quite happy to help.

Best wishes,
Marcus E. Turner

@alafae I applied to Engineering.

does anyone know at what time emails are sent?

My friend who got in last year received the e-mail at around 5 EST

@tlcgirl24 thanks!

i’m so nervous…

@tlcgirl24‌ Did your friend get the email on the 15th or earlier?
