Do you think a 33 ACT score is good enough for NU?

Hey does anyone know if NU admits by major or just by the school you apply to. I am applying to economics which I have heard is competitive because it is the closest thing to business at NU, but since it is in Weinberg, one of the easier schools to get into, knowing this would help me out.

Kelber, I mean that’s what I have on the ACT (Though my SAT is a bit higher). It’s definitely competitive enough, since they’re middle 50% is 31-33 (So a 33 is around the top 25% of applicants).

Infernal, it is just by the school you apply to, I’m 95% sure. I don’t think there is TOO much of a discrepancy between admissions in the schools though.

Sorry for the repeat, my computer kind of freaked out there. That’s just how excited I am to talk about NU, I guess :-D

Thanks for the reply. By the way I see you a lot around this forum. Out of curiosity what major are you applying to?

Kelber,
Check this out…your 33 translates to a 1460 out of 1600.

Crimson,

It’s actually 31-34 for the class of 2015 (class of 2016 data are not available yet).

Sam, oh, alright I just looked it up on Princeton Review. So 33 is still definitely competitive, just a little less.

Infernal, I’m planning on doing Bio with an Applied Math double major or minor to become a Biomathematician. I change my mind a lot though. I just post a lot because I’m trying to help others with what I know, and find out the many things that I don’t, haha.

Hey guys! I’m Clay, and I’m a class of 2017 ED applicant for NU - Medill. Pretty excited to find out one way or another. I’m so happy to find this community of folks with whom to celebrate or say, “Oh well,” depending on how it turns out for us. Nice to virtually meet all of you.

A friendly guy is the right description, haha. Welcome

What are the chances our decisions come out next Friday?

crosses fingers

Pickle, I thought the decision announcement was December 15 at the earliest, a week from next Saturday.

Sorry to correct you on your 2nd ever post, afriendlyguy, but most years it’s actually come out the 14th, so it’s almost always either the 14th or 15th. I don’t think it’s ever been later in the past decade.

Next Friday however has a 0.00000000001% chance of happening. That’d be 8 days earlier than they said, and Sandy delayed a lot anyway.

I’ll take your word for it, and here’s what the NU ugadm website has to say. It does say “by,” so assumedly decisions could come out earlier than that date.

My guess is due to Hurricane Sandy that they will do it on the last possible day i.e. the 15th.

Do the admissions decisions come out by mail or e-mail? And I’m just curious, are there any other ED applicants applying to MMSS? Can’t wait to get my results :)

I think NUDad answered this earlier, but it is email first, on the date posted (14th or 15th) and then snail mail later.

Last year decisions came out 6 days early, hoping that happens again since I’m dying of anxiety.

I applied Ed to McCormick!

Matched to Northwestern through QuestBridge!!
