*****Official NUS/NTU Discussion for 2015-16 admission season*****

Hello, this is my first time creating such a major discussion thread and I invite all NUS/NTU applicants to discuss here. Even I have applied to NUS/NTU this year for Computer Engineering. Keeping fingers crossed. Go ahead and post your opinions on NUS/NTU here.

I have applied to NTU and NUS too…any idea what cbse grades were accepted last year?

@PB1997‌

@maddy09 Hi! I don’t have much idea about last year’s cutoffs but what I do know is that NUS/NTU only reserves 18% of their seats for international applicants from all over Asia so the competition’s stiff.

I have read in some other threads that for NUS Engineering programme (if that’s what you have applied for), you should have around 97%. What are your programme preferences? Have you given SAT or planning to give JEE?

@PB1997‌ hi…Have’nt given the SAT but yes…will be appearing for JEE. Applied for Mech Engg …though not sure if I I did the correct thing as my cbse Physics exam dint go off too well! How did your exams go?

Any idea about NTU cut off? Is it lower than NUS? Is English included in 97% for NUS?
Are you taking the JEE ? Have you applied to HKU/ HKUST? Any acceptances?

My exams went nice, thanks. For NTU, I don’t know the cutoff but they say that there should be minimum 90% in all subjects in 12th, including English but not necessarily any other language. Don’t worry I am sure cbse guys had a tough time especially with the Maths exam.

Well it is said that NTU is always easier to get into than NUS. I don’t know whether they necessarily count English. I am taking the JEE but lol I probably wouldn’t send the rank I get? It’s optional.

What’s HKU/HKUST? Is it good for Comp. Engg?

HKU is University of HongKong and HKUST Hong kong University of Science and Technology

@maddy09 Nope not interested in Hong Kong but tell me one thing dude. Does NUS/NTU conduct interviews of shortlisted Indian applicants before giving them a final decision? Or is it just direct admission without interview if shortlisted?

Hey! I applied to NUS and NTU for the 2015 intake as well. I’ve applied for business.
My friend got accepted to NUS last year. She got 98.4% in the cbse board exams. But she didn’t go.

@breakthrough All the best to you. Decisions come out by next month.

@breakthrough Which branch was your friend accepted to? Why didn’t she go?

I scored 92%(ICSE) in my 10th boards; 90% (ISC) in my 11th Annual Exam; 97%(ISC) in my 12th Boards with
Eng-98 Math-98 Biology-97 Physics-94 Chemistry-95. I am a national level Athlete and Basketball player. What are my chances of being admitted to NUS or NTU?

@PB1997 My friend had applied for Business Administration. However, she didn’t go because she also got accepted into NLU, Delhi and she preferred to stay here because of the 3 year bond obligation she wasn’t much of a fan of.

Also i am kinda lost on how and where to upload my actual results. Any idea?
The NUS site says the actual results have to be uploaded via the online uploading facility (or fax), which i can’t seem to find. The only online uploading facility i know of is where i uploaded all my other documents like 10th marksheet etc.

@Monica1997 Your chances are pretty high i’d say. Which course(s) did you apply for?

@breakthrough Nobody can be a fan of the 3-year bond.

If you are confused with the online upload, you can always go for the fax. I did that. How much did you get in CBSE?

@Monica1997 Look now there is no point in predicting your chances. Just hope for the best. You have good marks. It depends on which course you applied for and the marks you secured in the subjects relevant to that course. All the best.

@PB1997 I don’t suppose anybody would be a fan of the bond.

I got an overall of 96.4%.I hope this is enough. You?

Oh by the way thanks for making this thread

@breakthrough Well 96.4% is great considering that CBSE screwed up everybody in Mathematics. Can’t say whether it’s enough. I was in ISC and happen to score 98.4%. Hopefully I will get Computer Engg.

Your welcome btw. It’s my pleasure to connect with you people.

@PB1997 Thats great! Congratulations!
I know someone else who got into NUS with 95.6% (CBSE) But then again its NUS so what happened once may not happen again. Either way let’s hope for the best.
I hope we both get in!

But NTU is supposedly more clement as compared to NUS ( from what i have read online ). We’ll know by the end of june though,

Where else have you applied?

@breakthrough I do hope we both make the cut!

NTU is supposedly more merciful but I have found out some exceptions online.

Check out paulchensc’s blog at http://paulchensc.blogspot.in/2009/07/smu-nus-accepted-me-ntu-rejected-me.html

What happened with paulchensc can happen to us too. We will find out soon enough

Where else I applied? Well I already received acceptance from SRM University (Main Campus) for Computer Engg through their entrance test. If I don’t get Singapore, I am off to Chennai

Where else did you apply?

@PB1997 I have applied for Mechanical Engineering. What about you?

I have applied for Mechanical Engineering @breakthrough. You are right. I should hope for the best.
