*****Official NUS/NTU Discussion for 2015-16 admission season*****

@maddy09 So far nothing. In 2013 the NTU results came out on the 11th of june. We are around that time frame, so we should be on the look out. Hopefully it comes within this week.

Good Luck everybody!!!

@PB1997 CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Congrats @PB1997 . I am an ISC student as well but i haven’t heard anything from them yet . :expressionless:

@Monica1997 Maybe its course wise.

@breakthrough @Aakash1104 …Do let us know if anyone from CBSE gets an offer from NUS/NTU.

@PB1997 When is your Scholarship Interview ? Good Luck !

@breakthrough That’s what I thought too. Any idea if Mechanical Engineering is more competitive than Computer Science. Is it more difficult to get into Mechanical Engineering?

@maddy09 Thanks! And thanks to everyone for the wishes. The interview is on 18th June in Chennai.

@Monica1997 As far as I have read online all engineering courses are considered competitive. It all comes down to the other people who have applied for the same course. So can’t say much. Just hope for the best!

@maddy09 Will let you know! I hope we hear from atleast one university within this week.

Got Accepted to NTU …Computer Engineering with Minor in Business …Yipeeee !!

I didn’t get accepted to NTU. :-S

@Monica1997 Did u get a rejection email from NTU ? OR are u assuming ?

I got a rejection email. @maddy09 Congrats to you and all the best for the future.

@maddy09 how much did you score in the board exams?

did anyone from CBSE get an acceptance?

i didn’t get into NTU either

@maddy09 What are your individual subject scores? ( if you don’t mind revealing )

@umichanant i am from CBSE and i still haven’t got my NUS outcome. But NTU outcomes are out for everybody. By the way which course did you apply to? Because NUS seems to be announcing outcomes course wise.

Hello, everybody. I am a Indian student with Class 12 CBSE qualifications. I have applied to NUS Faculty of Science, with the following scores: 93 in Physics, 97 in Chemistry and 83 in Biology. My CGPA in class 10 was 10. I hope to get to study life sciences with a specialisation in cell and molecular biology. I also have a few extra-curricular achievements, which I have listed below:

  1. Senior Diploma in Kathak Dance from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.
  2. Member of the Indian delegation to the 11th International Children Festival at the International Children Center “Artek”, Crimea, Ukraine. Attended by representatives of 54 countries. Represented India at the 3rd session of the General Assembly of the International Children’s League of Nations (ICLN). Appointed the regional coordinator of the project “Me and the Environment”. Signatory of the Appeal addressed to the Leaders of States enlisting the resolutions adopted by the General Assembly (August 2012).
  3. Finished in the top 5 of the ‘Flag for the Future’, a global contest to design a flag for the preservation of the Arctic region. Organized by Greenpeace International and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. The flag design was displayed at the North Pole in April 2013 as a capsule containing the signatures of almost 3 million Arctic defenders was planted at the sea-bed. Represented the ICLN and Greenpeace India at a television programme called ‘Right to be Heard’, broadcasted on Headlines Today, a national news channel. Posed questions to Ms. Jayanti Natrajan, then-Minister of Environment and Forests, and submitted the ICLN Appeal to her.
  4. Was nominated for the Young Mind Award at BioAsia 2015: The Global Biobusiness Forum for an original thesis titled- ‘Beware of Greeks Bearing Gifts’: Exploiting the Glucose Avidity of Tumour Stroma to Deliver Metabolic Inhibitors via Trojan Horse Nanocapsules’. The glucose avidity of cancerous tissue can be exploited for delivery of metabolic inhibitors inside stromal cells with enhanced glucose metabolism. Their dependence on glycolysis makes them more vulnerable to metabolic inhibition by glycolytic inhibitors and 2-deoxyglucose, which form cores and polymeric membrane of nanocapsules respectively. Invitation from Biolim Biosolution Pvt. Ltd. to disseminate innovation (Publication of abstract in the magazine ‘BioLim Nukleuz’).
  5. Participated in the discussion on the relevance of the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ (Clean Indian Campaign) on NDTV India: http://khabar.ndtv.com/video/show/badi-khabar/badi-khabar-swachh-bharat-swachh-vidyalaya-340305?q=/video/show/badi-khabar/340305

Participated in the panel discussion on India’s Mars Mission (Mangalyaan) on NDTV 24X7: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQh5iv4nHXM&feature=youtu.be

Additionally, I am currently working at the lab of computational biology of the Open Source Drug Discovery Unit (OSDD), CSIR as a research intern, awaiting the activation of the TATA CSIR OSDD fellowship for the duration of my internship (1 April 2015 - 31 July 2015). I am investigating latent mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection in the context of host-pathogen interactions, and exploring biomarkers for a point-of-care Mtb diagnostic.

I am the second author of a scientific paper ready for submission. We have created a machine learning tool for predicting and designing peptides active against bacterial biofilms, a major cause of nosocomial infections and antibiotic resistance. On my suggestion, we selected quorum sensing peptides as the negative dataset for training the models, which are performing with >90% accuracy, specificity and sensitivity. This paper has been accepted for a Poster Presentation at the Drug Discovery and Therapy World Congress 2015 to be held in July in Boston, USA.

What do you reckon are my chances of getting accepted to NUS for life sciences?

My application status had changed to ‘Your application has been processed’ when I checked it this morning. Has this happened with anybody else? Thanks!

@ArwenEvenstar7 Well no one can say much but your application sure sounds great.
And my application still says ’ Application Processing’

Just wondering did you also upload your actual mark sheet (the official one and not the one downloaded from to site)?

@breakthrough Funnily enough, I neither uploaded nor faxed my mark sheet (the one downloaded from CBSE’s website), but submitted a query with it as an attachment, asking the Office of Admissions whether they’ll find it acceptable. They said yes, and kept it. So I ended up submitting my class 12 board results by a rather unconventional channel.
I only got the official documents from my school yesterday, but no, I did not submit the official mark sheet. Like I said, the application status changed only in the morning today. I have been checking OASF regularly.
What course have you applied for? Perhaps that is making a difference?

Someone else finding your application decent is always reassuring. Thanks!

@ArwenEvenstar7 I’ve applied for Business Administration.
By the way, what is your overall percentage (inclusive of english)? Did you give the SAT or any other equivalent exam?

After including English (95), it is a meager 92%. Mathematics I knew I screwed up, but I scored 83 in Biology, which was pathetic. I’m applying for a revaluation, let’s see what happens.
I did not take the SAT or any such aptitude tests.
