Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

Stern applicant here. After perusing through last year’s thread, it seems Stern applicants didn’t start hearing back until May 8th or 9th for the most part, so we might have to wait a few more days for decisions.

@superpower, i applied stern too,

GPA : 3.87
EC : Investment corporation 1yo
Math professor assistant
honors club
volenteer
tutor

IDK… im f***ing nervous, i couldn’t see my transfer credit, and especially, i dont wanna go UCLA business economy…

got into gallatin today as a junior transfer! does anyone know who i can contact to ask for an extension on making my decision? i’m not hearing back from other schools until the 15th so i can’t give nyu a definitive answer until then at the earliest.

i tried to call admissions today but the woman who spoke to me was borderline hostile (that’s a lie - she was legitimately yelling at me) and told me i had to email “her,” but never explained who “her” was and abruptly hung up the phone.

good luck to all who are still waiting to hear!

At what time did you receive this email?

Also, I would just email the admissions office :-/

8:23 am! is there a specific person i should be emailing - like a gallatin specific account or just the general email? the lady on the phone really confused me…

Well Gallatin is just your school, admissions is over whether you attend or not so i would think just the admissions office, but I don’t know for sure. Just call again and try to get a direct answer…don’t care if they get mad

@Crocodiles
Congrats,
What were your stats if you don’t mind me asking?

I think I must have been too old because they invited me to apply at the Paul McGhee Division. Any thoughts on this?

@nickkeech

applying as junior transfer,
sat i: 2150
act: 32
hs ranking: 2/160ish
college gpa: 3.85 at top LAC

Does NYU guarantee housing for transfer students? I indicated that I would be living on campus, but the acceptance letter I received says, “Information about important matters such as housing (if available), orientation, advisement, and registration… will be available online.”

Does this mean housing may not be available?

i had to send in a $1000 housing deposit so i’m assuming this means i’m definitely getting housing (as a transfer) but who knows…

Hey all,
I applied to NYU Stern for the fall 2012 as a sophomore. I went to a prestigious private school in NY but had a bad senior year, turned my education around for the fall at comm. college, and hoping for the best. Haven’t heard back yet:

College GPA: 3.9ish at Westchester Community College
SAT: 2110
3 years interning at foreign business NGO in NYC
Honors Program at WCC
Member of Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Beta Gamma at WCC

couple other various things…

Currently watching south park to calm my nerves. Have any Stern applicants recieved notifications yet?

It seems like everyone who got rejected yesterday was a junior transfer to CAS in the the 3.8 range

@Undracheevr88
Yep…absolutely terrifying. I’m a junior transfer to CAS in the 3.9 range, but at URI which is not known for their prestige haha. And I did poorly on the SATs (1780) and was a B-B+ student at a prestigious private school, got all As senior year but I took all easy classes. I’m just expecting a rejection letter at this point.

I wonder if stern applicants were the last ones who got notified.

I am a stern applicant as well. I emailed an admissions officer and she said we’ll hear around mid-may.

Is CAS generally more difficult to transfer into?

My Tisch portfolio and high school transcript are still not checked off on Albert… should I call/email? Or just let it go and trust that they have both?

And @yeoirishs, I am not a CAS applicant, but from what I have seen on this year’s board and last year’s, yes, CAS is very hard to transfer into because it is NYU’s biggest school with the most applicants, so they are very selective.

They said they’ll email you if anything is missing, but if you call, who can it hurt? I mean unless they’re evil and they’re like let’s not let this person in because he/she called. muhahahaha.

No but seriously it seems that when people call they have whatever Albert says is missing.
