If the school you attend is very prestigious, how much difference will it make?

@AACHENCHEN1
It’s hard to gauge “how much” it makes a difference, but they definitely take it into account. The strength of your program also makes a difference.

Yeah, like having a 4.0 as a liberal arts major isn’t the same at a 3.5/3.8 as a computer science major…

That sounds interesting, I was told by someone from Rice who is also an transfer applicant that it does not really matter lol…It seems like other universities’ decision will come out very soon, Dartmouth is today…Excited May XD

I transferred to NYU last fall and I don’t know anyone who did not get housing who paid on time. In a few weeks you will fill out a questionnaire and rank dorms and then they will place you randomly. Just a tip: if you choose one of the more “popular” union square dorms you usually get placed in one of your last choices so you are better off doing some research.

Just received an email from NYU stating that my application is incomplete. It said to access my NYUHome account to see what transcript(s) they are missing from me along with instructions on how to send them.

“You should be aware that this email message may be out of date even as it is being transmitted. You may have already made arrangements for your transcript(s) to be forwarded to us, they may already be in the mail, or they may have arrived in our office this morning. For this reason, you should not panic about this notification. At this point, however, we recommend that you send either an email PDF or fax version (not both) of your missing transcript(s), in addition to sending an additional official copy of your missing transcript(s) via mail.”

I logged onto NYUHome to see what I was missing, only to find that every single thing was now checked off. It should be noted that both my “College Transcript” and “Final High School Transcript” had not been checked off as of yesterday. It was only today that they were finally marked as received.

I am assuming that I do not need to resend anything at this point, correct?

I received an e-mail also said my application was incomplete. I checked my account and found they didn’t have my high school transcript and my TOEFL. However, I did send these credentials. I probably have to mail them to the university again…

Does anyone know how much they look at high school grades? Mine weren’t that great but my college GPA is a 3.8. I’m a Tisch dance applicant.

Also, does anyone know if they only send out acceptance/rejection letters on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s? And do Tisch applicants usually hear at the end of may?

goodjob, i also got this email today. They said they didn’t receive my high school transcripts, but I have sent it before!

Just got the email about transcripts too… SO ANNOYING! I know for a fact that I put a request in writing to my high school. Ridiculous.

I got that same email but I called and they had everything on file and then checked everything off on albert for me…

She lady also said that admissions decisions will come out in batches and it is likely we will hear at the end of next week

@Hopeful2121,

Wow, maybe I should call them as well, since it is expensive to mail my high school transcript and TOEFL from my home country, and it takes quite a long time.

I just called and they are “out of the office” until Monday morning…sigh

I’m wondering if it really matters that they don’t have my HS transcripts because I am applying as a junior…guess I won’t find out until Monday…

@newyorksnight
Good news for you. I just called, and a admission representative said the high school transcript is only required when you get admitted. They can give you the decision without the high school transcript. So you do not need to worry too much!!

When I called 10-15 days ago, they said they had my high school transcripts. But it wasn’t checked off on Albert, and I got the email too. I’m assuming that they sent an automated e-mail to anyone whose application was incomplete on Albert, even if they had the files on system. (This happened last year and they year before that as well)

You’d think they change their system after this problem occurring every year and having to deal with thousands of students who call to make sure their applications are incomplete. But I guess not.

And then, after deciding that the high school transcript is unsatisfactory, will they rescind you and offer your spot to someone they waitlisted? If that’s the case, I have no hope.

but what if no email received as well as HS transcript has not been checked off? they said that they have received the HS transcript several days ago, but according to what you guys said, everyone should receive the email as long as something has not been checked off…

This is weird. I sent in transcript requests from my high school as well, like a month ago. My high school is usually pretty good at sending in my stuff. Could it have been a glitch or something? I got the same email as you guys.

Tisch transfer here too. Haven’t heard anything back yet other than the missing credentials email.

Same here, I emailed my counselor just to make sure
