Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

20 and no I am not accepting

@transfer
why not?

Man, when is Tisch going to release their decisions? It’s crawling closer to the first summer session and I was hoping to attend that one.

Waiting and waiting and waiting :/

@picklejuice24
because it is not as good as cas and, to me, is kind of like nyu’s way of getting more money by not denying people that didn’t make the cas cut. I rather go to the more reputable of the schools so I am going to reapply to cas and some other schools and I have already deferred from CUNY City College.

I applied to Steinhardt, public health

Spoke to an advisor today, got in my unofficial transcript finally. literally went back and forth on the phone 5 times until she got it lol. She said decisions are made on a rolling basis every thursday if that helps

By the way, I’m down to NYU, BC and Northwestern, I’m praying one works out. I got into Northeastern but it was a safety and it’s not really where I want to spend 3 years.

Rejected–CAS
HS GPA: 3.7
College GPA: 4.0

Applied to Stern, no reply yet. :’(

@sgplayer69

i got into their business program there. what are you majoring in?

I did economics at NU and BC, both in the A&S/humanities colleges

@Loolala

I’m so sorry to hear that :frowning: I really thought you were going to get in since you had solid academic credentials, you were one of the first to be on this thread, it would’ve been nice if we all had gotten in… Anyhow, is it really true that we should not expect any more decisions to come out before next Thursday?

@jjdiem

Haha, I also sent mine in at the last moment, but never got anything…

Did anyone else here not receive their netid until they emailed admissions?

@transfer456

You need to get on the phone with them immediatley and get your net id.

I currently study abroad with NYU so Ive already been exposed to the bureaucracy that is NYU. As much as I love the school, it is one of the most disorganized institutions out there (especially the financial aid office). They will forget about you and tell you tough luck. Get on the phone with them and dont get off until you have your net id.

@jjdiem

Thanks, will do. I’ll post again after I’m done and hopefully this will help others, too. Also, I think most schools are disorganized. I’ve dealt with four different CUNY schools when deciding where to go and have found that they are all extremely inefficient in how they deal with admissions/aid.

Update:

I just called, and they asked me to read them my email address – the one they’re supposed to have – and the one they had was one number off. The person on the other end was barely audible and sounded like they were asleep haha. They gave me my NetID and everything is checked off but the Application Fee, which I paid…

Edit:

I called to ask about the fee not being checked off and they told me to ignore it, so it must be an error on their part. Also, they said I’ll be receiving news by next week.

So I called admissions yet again today to try and get a solid answer. In case you Stern applicants were wondering, “Decisions are going out on a rolling basis until June 1st”…“there is no particular day of the week that decisions are sent out”.

I just called admissions as well, thrice in fact, and the admissions officers that i have been speaking too are either getting too frustrated from receiving multiple calls from students or are just having a bad day. I have been getting various answers as to when our decisions will be out. One indicated that decision will be released even till the first week of June.

So because of this, I am stuck with a dilemma. I am an international student and have applied to steinhardt mcc program. I know my chances are relatively slim as I am transferring from a CC, hence because of this I am very keen on the scps program even if they don’t offer me an admission at mcc. So here is my question, can I simultaneously apply to scps even if i have a concurrent application to NYU? And also do most rejected applicants automatically get accepted into the scps program (I checked the check box in my commonapp application that i would still like to be considered for admissions to scps even if i am being rejected by my first major). Please help! TIA!

@loolala Sorry to hear that :frowning: Btw were you offered an alternative admission to the mcghee department?

Does anyone know is SCPS is any good? Can you transfer internally if you go there and is that easier?
