Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

The annoying thing is we know that they know what our decisions are. If they’re so hellbent and getting everyone they want why not just waitlist everyone who’s borderline now rather than make us wait? I have deposits to pay where I am now. It’s quite frustrating.

@hotpotato1092

Completely agree. I had to put my deposit in already for my backup school so if I end up getting accepted I will lose my deposit which is fine…but for people who have expensive deposits not so much. Just friggin put us out of our misery already, grrrrr!!!

I have multiple deposit deadlines coming up at other schools. Would it make sense to call NYU and ask if I can somehow be given a decision sooner?

Of course I would gladly lose any deposit if I had the good fortune to get in to NYU, but if it could be avoided…

They won’t give you a decision sooner unfortunately, I’ve tried that and they basically said it is what it is. Tough luck.

I got my decision at 10:40 am on a Thursday (for the people that were wondering about that earlier in the thread). I don’t think there’s any “time” that you should look out for… just some time during the work day, most likely.

Hey guys I need your help to decide on something. I want to take online courses from my college over the summer, however, if I were accepted by NYU to start in the Fall would this courses still transfer?

Has anyone heard back from Stern yet? I’m having a mental breakdown because the transcripts I requested from my school never got sent… finally was able to get the faxed unofficial ones in last week and sent an official one but it probably won’t arrive until next week. The admissions counselors didn’t specify if Stern looks at the unofficial transcripts when making decisions, and I’m terrified that the rolling decision will mean all the spots will be filled by the time they receive my official transcript. @_@

hey man, I’m applying to Stern, I sent in an unofficial transcript a few days ago. The lady told me that they will look at that and if you are admitted they will require an official transcript.

Thank you!! That’s such a relief… I’m getting so on edge now that it’s getting closer to decision time… maybe we’ll be classmates soon :)

I sure hope so! I’ve heard so many awesome things of Stern. If you don’t mind, what are your stats/grades like?

Actually kind of difficult to say what my stats are… I’ve spent the last year studying business in South Korea so my college GPA is divided into two different schools… and summer classes add on a third dimension… but probably somewhere between a 3.7 and a 3.9 for my college GPA, and around a 3.6 in high school (we used a grading system out of 100 so not really sure about that one) I’m a second semester sophomore now, so I’m applying for transfer as a junior ^^

Has anyone’s (especially Stern Applicants) transfer credit been shown up yet? Mine is still not available. Freaking me out

@mattvalencia

stop worrying about transfer credits. I was accepted 3 days ago and they just showed up this morning.

My albert disappeared…

WAHHH. It’s gone. I can’t see my application page or anything.
Is this a site maintenance thingy?

I can log in but once it takes me to NYUhome, my academics tab is blank…

Does anyone know if scps is better than CUNY City College? ANd if you graduate from nyu-scps what do you tell future employers about what school you went to. Surely any reputable job in NY would know and ask about the difference, right?

@transfernewyork If you did go to scps you would still have the chance to internally transfer after one whole year. A degree from NYU is still a degree from NYU, I highly doubt you have to specify what school you went to, within NYU, perhaps just the major.

Thanks, have you heard back yet?
I was told in my acceptance email that going to scps would not help people get into cas… I’m just worried because their admission process doesn’t seem as intense or serious as other nyu schools.

I actually applied to SCPS for sports management, so I’d love it if anyone who got offered SCPS declines.

Hey guys! Just registered at CC. I got my acceptance from NYU CAS Thursday at 9 a.m. eastern time. However, I am going to WashU so I declined their offer very quickly so hopefully that will open a spot for someone! Goodluck everyone!

^congrats on WashU, thanks for being a good person haha.
