Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

has anyone heard from Tisch (film)
?

All Tisch applicants SHOULD be hearing this week. Not sure if we actually will but that’s what I was told when I called last week.

@centerklaus
I have been planning on majoring in economics, that would be my area of natural ability, along with moth mathematics.
I want to double major in both econ and physics but SCPS doesn’t give the option to double major.
I’m also just starting to consider finance (but this is a new interest)

To transfernewyork:

Seems like we have a quant here… lol
have you ever considered grad school in financial engineering?
And I’m wondering why didn’t you apply to Fordham or Baruch
when both schools are quite famous for their business schools
They are not as good as NYU but still better than City College
in terms of Econ and Finance (Of course City College is better in physics)
In terms of ranking, Baruch is not as competitive as NYU Stern,
but many kids go there because of the affordable tuition.
(esp those who get Macauly Honor)
FYI, Baruch has one of the nation’s best Master of Financial Engineering program.

I’m a Tisch Film & TV applicant and I have not heard back yet. I’m expecting to hear back on Thursday, but who knows at this point.

called today and they said they’d get back to us by june 1.

“By June 1” that is just out of control. Tons of people are paying deposits either at their current schools or other schools that they now cannot get back. Not okay.

I have to pay my deposit by Thursday. Let’s see if I hear back from Gallatin by then.

Stern applicants will hear back by june 1st, that’s what admissions told me so yeah :/

if we have not heard back yet, can it be assumed we have been rejected? i mean whenever i call them they say they’ll get back to us by june 1, but im assuming that’s for everyone, denied included. would it be too farfetched to think that anyone nyu already wanted would have already been admitted by now?

@josephyang

No, it has nothing to do with whether you’ve been admitted or not. As far as I know, no one that has applied to Tisch has been accepted or rejected yet. Only one person from Stern (on this thread) was accepted a while back. The vast majority of us have not heard anything yet.

It’s such BS though. I have to have my housing submitted by May 31st for other schools and it’s a legally binding contract so I’d be wasting thousands of dollars. That’s completely ridiculous. Ugh…

I ended up not applying to NYU, but shouldn’t you guys be able to request early reads if you have other decisions that require a response?

@rinata
I just called and the admissions rep said no. Such bs.

Don’t ask the student representatives.

Ask to be transferred to an admissions assistant/counselor and ask them. While the official policy is that they can’t expedite reading your application, IIRC from previous years apps, some people were able to get that done by speaking to an admissions assistant.

it really seems like no one heard today, I guess we should be expecting a wave of decisions to come on Thursday then, good luck to you all!

Really hoping for some good news tomorrow. Can anyone confirm if decisions always get sent out all day or just around 9am?

From what I’m seeing on this thread, NYU claims that it releases decisions throughout the day, but in actuality, everything gets sent out in the early AM.

Then again, there could be people getting afternoon responses back outside this thread.

I’ve seen a few people get their responses around 12pm and 1pm

for those people who are accepted, did all of them have their transfer credits show up at least the day before? cause i check my albert every day and whenever it says “transfer credit not available” a little part of me dies inside because i feel like i won’t be accepted.
