Official NYU 2013 Transfer Thread

@josephyang

I applied to CAS last year and received rejection on the same day as you were accepted to Stern, May 17.

Overlord207, I believe transfer credits show up only if/after you are accepted, isn’t it?

A friend of mine was accepted to Poly for engineering. I’m assuming we all hear back during different times.

Wow… so they started giving decisions! Now I really can’t wait… but i guess I wont hear so soon anyway…

Only payment is checked on my application status. I emailed nyu admissions yesterday, this is what they said : “Since you are a transfer applicant, and we are focusing on freshman applicants right now, your checklist should be updated in mid to late April. Thank you for your patience”.
I applied to gallitin as a transfer
i have great recommendations, good essays (i think) and very good high school grades and a cuple of ECs too but my college gpa is 3.15. However i have good grades in classes related to my intended major. What do you guys think do i stand a chance?

I just called NYU and they seem to don’t have the English translation that was attached to my original HS transcript… oh well, the only school who messed up with my documents :S

Does anybody know if once your application is complete, if it is possible to get a decision sooner from NYU?

I have to put down a deposit for the school I’ve been accepted by May 1st, so I was wondering if it is possible to get a decision from NYU before that, like some other places do in case you have another school pending. If I tell them they’re my first option and I would like to know whether or not I get in before I put down the deposit for a different school, would this be possible without hurting my chances of admission…?

I was also wondering if the lady on the phone doing the status check is also the person reviewing my application. I’m afraid I’ll have to annoy them a little bit by calling frequently until they’re able to find my HS transcript…

I don’t think the admissions officer will be the person deciding your admissions. Anyone from stern hear back?

i don’t expect to get in, and it’s not my first choice. general stats:

year: freshman
school: gallatin
gpa: 3.7
sat: 2210

^ I’m really surprised you didn’t get in with those stats

So I just received an email saying that my application is still incomplete in their system because they haven’t received my mid-term report for my current spring semester courses. Good sign or bad sign?

^ they probably ask every applicant

I didn’t get an email, even though NYU is missing/lost my HS transcript… bad sign? hahaha

No, they didn’t ask me to submit my mid-term report last year.

^ if you were not asked for a mid term report last year and you were rejected, then being asked for a mid term report means you are still being considered.

I thought we don’t need to submit midterm reports.

I got an email asking for one last month, so I guess if NYU contacts you for one, then you have to submit one.

So if they don’t ask for it, then it is bad :(

^ or maybe applicants who don’t receive a request for a midterm report are so qualified that NYU doesn’t need more information to evaluate them. Maybe midterm reports are for borderline applicants. I don’t know. All of this is just speculation.
