Official NYU Early Decision Thread!

I applied ED to CAS, and got into GSP instead. I think i'll go.

White male NJ
3.7 GPA
1300 SAT
ok SATII's

Fell4ever, is your GPA weighted or unweighted? and the 1300 SAT is out of 2400?

I dunno if this helps, but....

My friend's boyfriend just got in to NYU and he's kind of an idiot. I say that lovingly cause he's my friend, too, but I honestly have noooo idea how on earth he got in.

Good luck :-)

I'd be absolutely THRILLED to be selected to GSP. You guys should be very, very proud. Congratulations!!

I know that a lot of schools defer many of their early decision applicants into the regular decision pool. Does this happen at NYU?

nyu doesn't defer any ED applicant...and I think thats very civil...I was deferred at my 3rd choice school (got in to my second)...kinda stinks.

yeah, i'd hate to be deferred.. i don't think i could stand the uncertainty of it

If I got a 1300 out of 2400 I'd cry. Its out of the 1600 scale.
And its unweighted.

Alright, so I just heard that 2 other people from my school who applied early got into gsp, and got their letters on friday. Two others, whose grades are above and beyond the call of duty for NYU, have not gotten their letters. This can only mean that the gsp letters for my school have been sent and the regular letters will come later. It's either a regular acceptance or a rejection for me now, gsp letters are out of the question in my area. And my stats aren't what I consider to be the norm for NYU's regular accepted pool. So I can tell you all now, tomorrow I will be reading the "We regret to inform you..." letter.
I will not sleep easily tonight, nor will I be at peace tomorrow. :-(

care to elaborate upon what you claim to be "well above the call of duty for NYU" please?

Hi. I got selected for their GSP and I got the email just last Friday. I really think it's worthwhile and it seems to offer a lot. I'm just wondering what the chances are of not getting an average GPA of 3.0. And any disadvantages about this program. Thanks.

i def agree with slater6661! the people who have not yet received there letter are either getting accepted/rejected. NO GSP! Ahhh im freaking out souble of what i was freaking out before.

don't say that! you never know..

or i hope for all of our sakes that you never know =/
what am i gonna do if i dont get in?
hahah no college?

Idee, if you and i dont get in we will be on the same boat cause i dont know what to do then. i think id probably apply to fordham, boston college/uni, and if everything goes wrong then a cuny or suny.

I'm agreeing with the "realists" above, certainly today if no GSP letter comes
then "You in or you out". My stats were most similar to quarks and he got GSPed and he's gs****ed.
I hope everyone posts no matter what they hear cause it's so helpful. i for one am not hopeful ...Madison (and I don't mean Avenue) here I come!

When do you think that people from the Midwest will get a letter if they're GSP'd? I'm from Indiana and I'm freaking out!

i hate NYU now

why do you hate nyu now?

Nothing in mail today...no news is bad news in NJ

my mail doesn't come until approx 3:10, plus I have jazz band practice every day after school 'til four. to top it all off, I live about 20 minutes away from my school, the roads are icy, 4 pm is our rush hour, AND I have to drive through down town.... this is going to be a very very very long week....
