Official NYU ED thread!

Wicked... I think I would prefer waiting too. The whole net-id thing is too sketchy and I would be hysterical. I will just wait for a letter. AHH!

If anyone tries it and it works, let me know.

Ok, I did it (couldn't wait) and It gave me the following message which would lead me to believe that I am rejected.

Only current members of the NYU community are eligible to use
this function. Please make sure you have entered your NetID
(which looks like "aqe123") and not your University ID Number
(which looks like "N12345678"). For more help please contact
the ITS Client Services Center at 1.212.998.3333.

Then it probably doesn't work yet, the only way to know is if someone who knows they're accepted tries it. Don't worry about it!

****, my curiosity got the best of me and I got errored too. Now I'm going to freak out even more.

Thanks mamspam, that makes me feel a little better. If they don't mail out the decisions until Thursday, it probably isn't up. Did you get the exact same message as me?

A friend of mine tried it earlier today and got the same. That's 0/4. It might not work. Someone with strong stats needs to try.

Don't freak out.

I just found out I got LSP'ed today and I just tried my ID, it didn't work either.

The message I got was exactly like Bryanm's-

"According to our records you are not eligible at this time to hold an NYU password. As a result, you may not use the ITS Start Service.

Please make sure you have entered your NetID
(which looks like "aqe123") and not your University ID Number
(which looks like "N12345678"). For more help please contact
the ITS Client Services Center at 1.212.998.3333 or at
its.clientservices@nyu.edu."

edit: er, well mine said I'm not eligible at the time. Bryanm's said only current NYU students can use the system....

...that "not eligible at this time" bit is really interesting. It's not in the standard error message...

i got accepted to lsp today instead of college of arts and sciences. i am super excited, but almost leery at the same time.

Yeah... I am totally rejected. Thanks anyway Ya-Alim.

Okay, so don't freak out. I was so nervous about it I called the admissions office. The guy told me that NetID is no indicator of whether you're in or not. Also, he said you'll hear decisions either this week or next week.

Thanks SO much mamspam. I don't know how much I believe that, but it still makes me feel better. I had already started working on my Eugene Lang app. Btw, does anyone know anything about Eugene Lang at the New School??

"Haha... Actually last week, I had my 3rd Barack Attack and I was diagnosed with Obamaitus. I sent in my app before I started doing campaign work, but it listed all of my other political campaigns (I have been doing this for the DNC since the age of nine, when I went to the Palm Beach County courthouse and protested the butterfly ballots in 2000... unfortunately Dick Cheney and his little monkey took that one). I went to see Obama when he came here back in May, it was awesome.
I dont like all of the 60s, but I am in love with 1968 (if I could travel back to one year, that would be it).

PS- Did you cry during his acceptance speech?... I was sobbing."

Wow, youve been working for the dnc since you were 9?! You are so freaking cool. Like, seriously. **** nyu if they dont accept you. I didn't cry during his acceptance speech, but I as soon as they announced that they had a projection after California votes came in, I freaked out and yelled like crazy. And then when I saw his picture and Wolf Blitzer announced that he was the projected winner, I sobbed for about 10 minutes straight and was just so happy.

"I'm so glad there are other crazy liberal vegetarian 60's enthusiasts like me! This is why NYU is going to be so amazing. "
WOO! damn straight!

have any international students received their email yet?

Bryanm, I looked at Eugene Lang as well, for lacation it seems its located in the Union Sq. area. It seems like the whole "new school" thing is interesting. It seems like a twist on a liberal arts education. I was thinking of doing the application, but didnt get a good vibe. Also, it is consistently ranked extremely low on dorm and food quality by Princeton Review. Hope this helps.

Bryanm, I'm looking at Eugene Lang right now too. I've heard some mixed things about it, but I really liked it when I visited. It is in a great location, fairly close to NYU. It's definitely not a typical school it seems, so I think it's kind of a "love it or hate it" kind of school. But the school left a good impression on me when I visited, so I think it's worth checking out at least. I didn't get to see the dorms though or eat any of the food, so I can't comment on those two things.

OH MY GOSH! mini heart attack today. turns out this girl at my school got her letter today (how could this be? they dont send it out til end of this week!) but when i found out about this i rushed to the mailbox with my heart on my sleeve. NOTHING. sigh

Was she accepted LSP? If so then it makes sense, but if not then wow...that's earlier than expected.

its possible that she wasn't accepted LSP because my friend got into CAS today

i dont know. she said she applied to stern. LIAR! haha jk (: now im scared for me
