Official NYU Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@popitx You didn’t specify how many credits you have overall. Have you taken courses in math and physics?

@movingon222 The GPA and incoming class size was provided to me by the director of CCTOP at Steinhardt. I was made aware that the GPA was the average of the eligible students that were from partnership CCs who were admitted for the Fall 2014 semester at Steinhardt. However, decisions aren’t made solely on GPAs. From what I know they use a holistic approach to every applicant. I’ve read other previous years threads showing students being rejected with 3.8-3.9 GPAs and students admitted with GPAs as low as 3.2. So you really never know how things will play out.

@Cannova93 yes, I have all my pre-recs done. I have my AA/AS in physics, math and computer science.

@popitx Oh nice! In my opinion I think you have a decent shot at getting in.

Hi everyone! Please help me out!

I am an international student and I am currently studying in CC in FL. I have applied as a transfer student into CAS majoring in English.

overall GPA: 3.97/4
current school: College of Central Florida, FL
IELTS: 7/9

Dean’s list in every semester.
Vice President of Student’s Club in CC.

I do not have a High school gpa as my country doesn’t use the GPA scale for hs. I explained to NYU already.
I am not very sure how I did on my personal essay… hopefully they are ok

Can anyone also provide the average GPA of the admitted transfer student of CAS?

Thank you so much and I appreciate for your help!!! So nervous!! Hate the wait!!

Guys, what does NYU housing website states your status for Fall in NYC?
Mine is “non-renewable”.

Give me the low down on transferring from CAS Econ to Stern. What do I have to do?

  1. Yes I know its nearly impossible
  2. Yes I know a lot of CAS Econ people try to do it
  3. Yes I know I shouldn't have tried to backdoor but honestly don't think I would have been accepted to NYU had I applied to Stern

Now with that being said, I always hear of how hard it is to transfer. What’s hard about it? The bane of my application is my high school GPA which is not high enough. And I’m to understand that NYU weighs your high school performance heavily, so I’m guessing that will badly affect me?

And the most important question, what is recommended? What is the best way to increase your chances of successfully transferring? What do I have to do?

Oh and, I have little to no idea of how the transfer process works. Do I have to write any new essays?

@topimpabutterfly‌ That you would definitely have to ask someone that’s already in NYU. Here the majority of us are hoping to get into NYU first haha

@isabellasa accepted GPA last year for CAS averaged 3.7

Does anyone know when they will begin sending out admission decisions?

Not really related, but does anyone know the general acceptance rate to CAS?

I heard that NYU doesn’t really favor CC transfer students… is that true?

I emailed the admission office and she said the decision will be released on a rolling basis starting form next week.

Just curious, where did you get the piece of info from? @yoyo45987

Ughh!! I am so nervous! The wait is killing me.

I know !! It’s killing me too!! What’s your major? @Cannova93‌

@isabellasa Right now I attend a CC, which is part of the CUNY system here in NYC. My current major is liberal arts (math and science A.S.). But I really like psychology so of course I would like to major in psych. Hbu

I am attending a CC in FL and my major is English. According to the post last year, NYU doesn’t favor CC transfers… is that true? Super worried… @cannova93

@isabellasa I honestly don’t know if NYU does or does not favor CC students. All I know is, I found out about the CCTOP program at NYU Steinhardt and then I found the applied psychology program. I have been speaking with the director of the CCTOP program at NYU for over 8 months now. She has helped me through the whole process and I’ve met her multiple times too. She was the one that helped me with the application process and really took care of all of my documents. The people at Stenhardt seemed very friendly and encouraged me to apply and they even waived the application fee. Again, I am speaking based on my experience with Steinhardt. I have no clue how the other schools view CC students.

@cannova93 Wow I don’t know they have such a nice program! I applied CAS tho instead of Stenhardt. Good luck to you!
