Official October SAT Math Discussion

^ Oh, right.

Yeah, there was a large triangle with two lines drawn on it that separated it into three smaller triangles. Two of those triangles were said to be isosceles, and you were given a vertex angle of 40 degrees on the right triangle and a base angle of 40 degrees on the left triangle.Then you were asked to find the value of x, the angle separating the two triangles. The value was 180-(70 + 40) = 70 degrees.

as shown in the link, the curve depends on difficulty. As a person who blew the math i wish i get good curve too, but guys come on math wasn’t hard. since there were some logic questions that made a lot of people fail we can hope about the good curve, but personally i dont think thats gonna happen sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh

there was a question about the distance of x and y or something.
x 25 y
its 50 right?

^ It was 50

Math wasn’t hard this month :/

does anyone remember the answer choices for the 2B1 question with the remainder?

i know the answer was 7 but what were the other choices in what order
?
tyy

Does anyone remember the question with a circle and a tangent line on the left side of the circle? There were a few angles listed already in the problem. Does anyone remember the answer?

I think some of the answers were 55,60,65,70,75 :p. If I recall correctly, it was #15 on Section 2 for those who had math experimental

Math:
(-1,3)
3 ordered pairs
x+y=6
9/22
cube=54
x=5
slope = -2/7
whale= ⅛
sum of something = -3
165 minutes
median-avg = 0
ratio of markers to reststops = 2:1
|w-500|less than/equal to 30
max perimeter = 33
don’t remember question, but 48
temperature approximation = 130
another question, 330
grid in function = 9/6
halfsquare = 128
diagonal of square = rad130 about 11.4
length AC = 2xrad3
volume cone = 12pi
number of line segments to connect points = 6
y = 65 degrees
roman numeral question = I,II, and III
greatest value = a+b
250 seniors
y^2-x = 0
f(4)=g(4) — 4
2B8/11, remainder = 7

If anyone remembers anything else, please add to this!

^ Should be less than or equal to 15, not 30.

wat about the question that said something like 8 people were absent 2 times and 1 person was absent 3 times, how many kids r in the school?

i forget the rest… was it like 1600 or so kids?

^ Yep, 1600.

Do you guys think -1 grid in could be a 780? Or most likely a 760-770 because the math was a bit easier this time?

Almost every one of my friends that I spoke to said the math (and writing) was incredibly easy so I’m expecting the worse, -1 = 760 or 770.

What was the x=5 problem?

guys for the absent question I got a 1420. As I recall it said that 8 students were absent two days of the week and 1 student was absent 3 days of the week. Also, 5%of the total students at the high school = # of students absent 1 day. So I added up the absences and subtracted (82) and (13) because those were the students absent for more than 1 day and we have to find # of students absent 1 day only. I got like 71—> 71/.05 = 1420!

And for the trail marker one, I also had like 5 minutes left over on this section and recall their being a marker at the beginning but NOT a rest area. Rest areas are every 6 miles it said, therefore the answer should be 8:3

The absent question I think most of us got 1600.

I also got 8:3 on the trail marker one. I was pretty confident about both.

im confident the trail marker one is 8:3

only one of them was there at the beginning of the trail

Is anyone absolutely, deadly sure there was NO REST AREA at the beginning?

Maybe College Board is messing with us, and there are different versions.

yes, it seems to me the consensus is 1600 although I’m not really sure why, but I’m positive that the trail one was 8:3. that question makes the difference between a -2 and -3. Is there a chance that a -3 will get me a 750 or higher on this test?

@coolpillow - thats what i think too… im thinking 2 versions of some questions…
i know they are making the SATs really secure now … from cheating/identity

either way there seems to be problems with the trail one being either 8:3 or 2:1
and the entire senior class problem 150 or 250

@studyingforsat - -3 is a 750 if the test has no curves.

This sucks having to wait so long… I have to wait about a week after my PSAT to know my score. But I am feeling confident :)
