The one good thing about the deferral process is now we all have something to look forward to in the usual boring month of April (although it is so far away)

Honestly, I probably didn't deserve to get in anyways
I never do any homework and i procrastinate more then anyone (eg. writing papers during "bath room break")
I probably would have died faced with the 100 page senior thesis

If Princeton RD doesnt work out, then on to Yale Darmouth and beyond!

[] Hooks: There's some good competition in MO, but not a lot of it like on the coasts. That could have helped.
[] Strengths/Weaknesses: Writing is a strength. We have a very hardcore Fed Challenge team, and I let them know that. Most of my activities were school-related though, and I was afraid to look like a kid who sits and studies all day. Plus, my mathematical abilities are not so hot.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: The hum. symp. might have tipped the scale, because other than that I look like a lot of kids who got deferred. [/li][/ul]Other Factors: Dunno! General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: just like everybody else who who got accepted....AAHHHHH! PRINCETON !!!! WOOOOW!

I was deferred. SAT scores were too low, but I retook in early December. Scores available Monday. Also, bombed one of the 3 SAT IIs, which i will retake in January.

Best of luck to all, and i hope to be joining the ED accepties in the RD round of admissions.

Seriously, does anybody really party at Princeton? Are the eating clubs a good substitute for fraternities?
I do not shy away from that which is clear, but not water, so I was wondering about drinking fun at ivy league schools

[] Job/Work Experience: Internship last summer at ATK GASL (aeronautical eng company)
[] Essays (subject and responses): Big one: Talked about my passion for cooking and linked it to my love of science (discussed Rachael Ray- anyone else absolutely adore her?) Smaller Ones: The one about princeton's motto I talked about my work with Amnesty, the favorite quote one I used Life of Pi. I thought they were good and got good respsonses from my friends and teachers.
[] Teacher Recs: They killed themselves over these- my GC, who read them, said they were absolutely amazing
[] Counselor Rec: She said she "pulled out all the stops" for me- she really wanted me to get in and said she wrote me an amazing rec
[] Interview (feel and general location): Went pretty well, I thought- I showed my passion for Pton and how much I want to go there, but it seems as if everyone thought theirs went well- but the couple told me that I was "fantastic"
[] Hook (if any): I did my school's Science Research Program (#1 in the country- Byram Hills HS- my teacher created all of your school's sci res programs): Siemes Westinghouse Semifinalist, got grant from IBM for $6K, internship at eng company, wrote a really good paper, did Columbia SHP and IBM HMS Program
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Westchester County, NY (aka the place Pton hates)
[] School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): Small Public School - about 850 kids total- very wealthy, white jewish community (tho i am neither jewish nor wealthy by my school's standards)
[] Ethnicity: White- Italian
[] Income Bracket: 100K+
[] Gender: Male
[] Hooks: See above: Sci Res, also passionate about International affairs- as you can see, these are the 2 things that pton is known for- eng school and woody woo school- I felt I was a perfect fit
[] Strengths/Weaknesses: Great scores/ ecs/ recs/ essays. Weaknesses: I used the optional supplemental rec and wasn't sure how it would turn out- I thoght it wouldn't say anything - about me but would be the weakest of all of them. Guess it was fine tho.
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: I was honestly shocked. I thought they would defer me because A: Nobody from my school has been accepted to Pton in 5 years, and even then they were Intel STS Finalists and had connections (I have absolutely none) and B: I thought they'd want to see how I did in Intel STS- apparently Seimens was good enough tho
[/ul]Other Factors: That's really it. General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I can't believe I got in!!! I can't wait to meet all of you guys!!! IM me if you want to talk on AIM!
P.S.: Annandale1 and WorldShopper: You guys seem like incredible people and I really wanted to get to go to school with you-- best wishes in the RD round. Same to everyone who got deferred. But I honestly believe that God has an ultimate plan for all of us and we will end up where we belong and where we will be happy.

Another update. Congrats Class of 2010! 43 people on CC have gotten in - that's about 4% of the entire class and around 8% of the total ED admit pool. Wow.

Apologies again if I listed someone under the wrong list (or twice). PM me and I'll fix it.

Quick question, have people on the West coast physically gotten their letters? I forgot to call until it was too late. It was freakin 3 pm my time! Maybe tomorrow?

I got deferred...but, honestly, I was expecting a flat out rejection. I hope that my senior year grades will count for something as we can't even take APs till Junior year, don't have them in language or lit, and I really piled on the APs senior year. Although...who knows. This was a killer year for apps!! Fellow deferees: good luck, at least we know that if we were competitive at Princeton (somewhat...I'm guessing otherwise you'd be rejected) we'll be competitive at other schools. And congrats to all of those accepted. Maybe I'm being too upbeat about this!!! Oh well, keeps me sane!

I got mine here in California. I came home from a death physics final and saw two big envelopes sitting in the garage. I turned the first one over and it was some spam from NYU and I was like dammit! But then the second one was from Princeton and I totally spazzed.

Congratulations to all accepted Pton EDers....hopefully I and many on the Deferred list will join in your rejoice this upcoming spring. Good Luck to the rejected.....good luck to the deferred whether Pton does or does not accept you. And good luck to all of the Ptonians of the class of 2010. Merry Christmas or Happy Channuka...sorry for butchering this one.....what the heck....Happy Holidays
