It could also be the wife of the brother-in-law (which while in common usage is called sister-in-law, but not strictly correct). Alternatively, it could be the sister of a former husband/wife. Or the parents may have never married. So there are cases where “daughter’s aunt” is the best option. Regardless, it won’t count as legacy.
Did anyone get an email from Princeton about the decision release? And about the correlation between missing PFAA and acceptance, I don’t think there is any. After being rejected from MIT and Caltech, I don’t want to get my hopes high. Anyone here rejected from both schools?
Princeton is like one of the only schools I haven’t gotten an email from about decisions. My guess is that they’re going to send it today
@LondonVall I’m assuming that decisions will be released on the same day as other Ivies? Did you receive an email from Harvard or Yale though? I’ve only received for Penn and Columbia
@sastronaut oh yeah, Princeton will be released on the same day and at the same time. The Ivies have a binding contact with one another. It’s just weird that they didn’t send an email yet
Harvard doesn’t send emails saying when decisions will be released. At least they didn’t for SCEA.
@MaybeHarvard2022 You were accepted to Harvard ED?
@sastronaut i was admitted Single-Choice Early Action (SCEA) which is non-binding compared to ED.
But they do announce the date and time. Their SCEA release date/time was posted on their Twitter account, at least.
And there was an article from the Harvard Crimson with the date: http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2018/2/14/applications-numbers-2018/
@sastronaut I was also rejected by both Caltech and MIT. Not super hopeful for Princeton, but if I do get in that’d be flipping amazing. Amazing astrophysics program, it’d cost close to nothing, and a friend of mine from a nearby school is going there (accepted SCEA).
@sastronaut got rejected from MIT and Caltech too. Putting all my hopes on Princeton.
Waitlisted by both Uchicago and Northwestern , is there still hope from Princeton?
@greenmeadow We are all waiting for miracles to happen.
@greenmeadow yes theres still a chance-- theyre diff schools looking for diff things. Keep ur head up

@greenmeadow, et al
You can get accepted to HYPSM and rejected by UChicago, Northwestern, WashU, Vandy, etc. Happens all the time. Each school wants to build a body of students that they want each year under the holistic admissions philosophies. Just because you got rejected by “lower tier” schools in the ranking scheme of USNWR doesn’t necessarily mean anything. It ain’t over until the fat admissions lady sings.
Appreciate your replies.
@Neelius Yup I did too, though I believe they found out that CC ppl found a correlation and it is no longer the case. Let’s post our decisions for future threads.
When will this wait be over
