Getting financial documents ready for me has definitely been time-consuming.

The QB website does advise that “It is highly recommended that you begin this process in early October.”

I strongly agree to this suggestion and hope that y’all are collecting on the information you’ll need and working on your supplements (if applicable).

^Everything else is ready. However, there is only so much pestering and calling and e-mailing my parents to find their tax returns and mail them to me that I can do.

QB’s website says, “You may apply to any of QuestBridge’s partner colleges via Regular Decision.”

Does anyone know the usual time notifications are sent, by the way?

Are any of you having the problem of not being able to see your match agreement form appear on the my locker page? I know my counselor faxed the form before the deadline, but the fax still has not appeared. She faxed it two additional times after I emailed Questbridge, and they said they did not receive it yet although it has been more than 48 hours.

“It is highly recommended that you begin this process in early October.”

I’ve been thinking about that…but really, if only two of the schools I ranked even require the Common App, (Columbia and Stanford, both which don’t have additional essays for the supplements fortunately) then what is it that’s so time consuming that the QB website would warn us to begin the process in early October? Am I just forgetting to do something? You only have to submit…Common App(if applicable), transcripts, test scores, and CSS profile, right? thanks!

Okay, yes we do. Go to the Checklist for College-specific requirements and it says (for Stanford at least) “The Common Application with Supplement and Official Letters of Recommendation.” So we do have to do those three extra essays…

Do schools that require the Common App use the questbridge application at all? A student is considering recycling essays from the QB app, but I wonder if it would be better to present new sides of himself if they do use/read the QB app.

I think they also do look at the QB app, but it says that it is perfectly acceptable to use the same ones. Colleges will know this and won’t expect new ones.

yeah, I’ve seen that Common App schools are fine with re-using QB essays (#1 and #2, Bio essay is too long). If there are extra essays (I know Stanford has some, Princeton has some short answer, and Columbia has them too) then you have to write new ones. Other than that, it doesn’t seem to hard to get everything together.

Can I just say Brown has officially become my favorite school ever because everything was so easy?

If you’re referring to my post, I said I knew that Stanford has three but I didn’t know about Colombia because I’m not applying there… sorry if that was unclear

My guidance counselor told me that any college application before December 1st is considered early decision. Because Quest Bridge requires us to sign an agreement saying we won’t apply to schools through early decision, does that mean that if I am a finalist, I’m not allowed to apply to ANY schools until after December 1st?

“Early decision” refers to a binding agreement in which you are required to attend that school. Not every application before Dec 1st is ED. Also, it’s definitely unreasonable that we wouldn’t be able to apply to any schools until after Dec 1st because all UCs and CSUs are due November 30th…

Do any of you know if the Baylor Choice Application counts as Early Action? I got the impression that it was just part of rolling admissions but I will have to stop working on it if it is early action.

I know that a few schools specifically state that they require supplements, like Princeton, but what about many of the other schools that don’t explicitly state that they require a supplement by Nov. 1?

For example, my first choice is Haverford, and I know for a fact that ED and RD require a supplement essay, but I can’t find anywhere on the Questbridge site that states that the NCM app requires it (though they do specifically state the requirement of the supplement for ED and RD–finalist and not-finalist).

If somebody could help me understand this, I would really appreciate it.

Every college has a list of requirements for the Questbridge match round. If the supplements aren’t listed under the requirements for the match round, then you don’t need to submit supplements for the match round.

For example, Yale requires supplements for regular decision - even if you’re a Questbridge finalist. However, they don’t require supplements for the Questbridge match round.

Thanks physicsnut, but actually mine was just a general question. Can anyone help me out? Do you guys see any essays as part of the Columbia Common App supplement? Thanks!

I added Columbia to my list of colleges on the Common App to check and see and if I’m remembering correctly there were 2 or 3 short answer questions and then a supplemental essay asking why columbia
